The team over at iiji must have a thing for doing co-op in a valley.  Earlier this year we brought you an exclusive first look at a new co-op mode called Death Valley for the free to play FPS called Alliance of Valiant Arms.  iiji's is back with a brand new free to play FPS called Genesis A.D. - a futuristic game that's more about twitch gameplay than strategy.  It too is getting a cooperative mode, this time called - Viper Valley. 

We sat down with James Macauley, Executive Producer at Red 5 Studios, to get the skinny on their upcoming free to play title Firefall which was announced earlier this year at PAX. The game is slated to be released sometime next year on the PC.

The Doritos-sponsored Unlock Xbox indie game contest has been narrowed down to two finalists, and one of them has co-op. Harms Way is a racing game where you actually compete in cooperative teams of two - one drives and the other utilizes sniper turrets on the track to take out bridges, open shortcuts, and obliterate the other racers. It looks like good fun, playable in four-player splitscreen or online.

We've given a fair amount of coverage to the online first-person shooter Combat Arms, and for good reason: not only is the game completely free to play, but the scope of the game itself is pretty huge. Players are constantly treated to new maps and modes and there are literally hundreds of guns to choose from.

It's unclear exactly who is behind this unlicensed, unofficial, free indie game...but they've obviously put a lot of effort into bringing a virtual open world of LEGO creations to life. The concept is simple: pick from around 70 different types of blocks, pick a color for each, and assemble them however you like.

Firefall, a free to play MMO action game from Red 5 Studios, was announced right before PAX 2010 in Seattle.  The game was on the show floor for all to see, but details of it are still leaking out.  Gamepro checked out the the title and have brought back a nice consolidated list of features from the game.

Red 5 Studios have announced a brand new massively multiplayer shooter called Firefall which will focus on team based and cooperative based gameplay.  The studio, founded by World of Warcraft lead developer Mark Kern and Starsiege Tribes lead designer Scott Young, plans to release the game late next year on the PC utilizing a free to play model.

Valve has announced it will be releasing a free co-op top down shooter called Alien Swarm.  If that name sounds familiar, it's because there is an Unreal Tournament mod of the same name.  Valve happened to hire a bunch of the original mod team and one of their side projects was to recreate the title in the Source engine after working on Portal 2 and Left 4 Dead.

Sure NASA can make rocket ships and space craft that travels to the far reaches of our galaxy or take close up pictures of the sun - but who cares about the expansions and exploration for the human race when they can MAKE GAMES.  What's even better, their first foray into the videogame sector is a six player co-op game called Moonbase Alpha.

Sometimes it's the simplest of games that can bring us the most enjoyment, such was the fact with a little game called The Amazing Flying Brothers, a free downloadable title from Kloonigames.  I spent hours upon hours cackling at my poor trapeze artists misfortunes as he broke and contorted his body in the most gruesome of ways.

It wasn't long ago we told you that all paths were cleared, and MechWarrior 4 would be released for free via the interwebs.  The time is now to fire up those Jenner and Mongoose and get ready to do battle.  MekTek has the download, which actually hit over the weekend, but servers were hammered so hard it completely brought the site to its knees.

Believe it or not it's been 30 years since the classic game Missile Command has hit the arcade.  In celebration of the milestone Atari has partnered with web game portal OMGPOP to create a 7 player co-op version of the game that's completely free.
