Overstrike was revealed at E3 as Insomniac's first multiplatform game, one being published by EA. We haven't heard much on the title since then, but CVG was lucky enough to catch up with the game's creative director at Gamescom earlier this month to dig up some dirt. What did they find? A quote that should make co-op gamers pretty excited for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 title.
By now we've all been bashed over the head with franchises that are purportedly getting PlayStation Vita iterations next year, so I won't repeat them here. New titles, however, have been added by Ubisoft and Sony in an announcement made during Gamescom.
Ghost Recon is back next year in a big way after a long hiatus. Some sexy looking new screenshots have found their way out of Germany at Gamescom and onto the Co-Optimus gallery for the next game, titled Ghost Recon: Future Soldier. Without a doubt the most stand out thing is the way the game integrates tactical information directly into the game world. It's slick looking and makes me wish I had some sort of kick ass retinal implant to do the same. Just think, shopping for fresh vegtables would be so much more fun.
A fresh batch of screenshots and a trailer have emerged from someplace sinister for Dark Souls - the upcoming Action/RPG developed by From Software. And while the screens showcase a beautiful game with some impressive lighting, its the trailer that strikes fear in the heart of dentists everywhere.
Five new screenshots of the four player co-op shooter Aliens: Colonial Marines have emerged on the game's official Facebook page to celebrate Gamescom 2011. The Gearbox developed game has seen its share of delays and disappearances but it looks like we'll finally be praying for face hugger proof glass in the spring of 2012 on 360, PS3, PC and...Wii U.
Sony has dropped the price of the PlayStation 3 by $50 making it $249.99 for the 120GB PS3 Slim Model. The 320GB model has dropped to $299.99 and now is effectively "a better deal" than Microsoft's $299, 250GB Xbox 360 Slim. This price also is effective in the UK, Canada and other Euro regions, though the pricing is specific to each region.
Here's a nice and cheery Resistance 3 video to brighten up your day. Especially if you're into the whole "young woman ruminating upon her own death" thing. If not, it's pretty damn bleak. There's a nice flavor of wasted helplessness mixed in with a minimalist black, red, and white color scheme. You get the idea. Almost any still from this video would be right at home on the cover of an old 60's sci-fi book.
We just got a fresh batch of screenshots from Gamescom 2011 for Epic's upcoming four player co-op shooter, Gears of War 3. The shots show off the game's campaign and Horde Mode 2.0, so there might be some minor spoilers on display. We do get glimpses of some of the new characters we'll be taking control of as well.
During the EA press conference at Gamescom 2011 the company showed off Battlefield 3's cooperative gameplay mode in a short realtime demo running on the PlayStation 3. There was one short mission on display in which the two characters needed to rescue a hostage and get him to safety. The co-op mode will support two players online and each mission is its own story with full dialogue as part of a larger co-op campaign.
