The Ghostbusters franchise is one of the most beloved franchises to come out of the 80s. After last years Ghostbusters videogame, many folks were hungry for more. Instead of another retail release, the latest title in the series is a downloadable game with 4 player co-op. We brave it in our review of Ghostbusters: Sanctum of Slime.

Ghostbusters: Sanctum of Slime has hit the digital shelves.  The 4 player on- or offline co-op title has a brand new cast, but the same awesome proton packs.  A new launch trailer is out, which showcases the game's features.  Looks like some truly impressive bosses will be making an appearance.  Ghostbusters: Sanctum of Slime is available now for the Xbox Live Arcade, PlayStation Network, and PC.  Stay tuned to Co-Optimus for our Co-Op review.

It’s true that the seasons are changing. Warmer weather is all around us, flowers are blossoming, and it’s nice to just get out of the house on occasion. What does that mean? This issue of On the Download will be addressing very portable iPad and iPod Touch/iPhone games for download, and co-op play.

Ghostbusters: Sanctum of Slime is out this Wednesday, March 22rd on Playstation Network and PC and March 23rd on  Xbox Live Arcade.  The four player co-op game is a top down shooter where players assume the role of a new squad of Ghostbusters saving the world once again from certain doom.  To celebrate the launch we've got a fresh batch of a screens and a new developer diary that focuses on the game's difficulty.    From the sound of things, you'll definitely want some experienced Ghostbusters by your side *insert crossing the streams joke here.*

Ghostbusters: Sanctum of Slime will set you back $10 and four player couch and four player online co-op play.

The Xbox LIVE Marketplace has plenty of co-opportunities this month.  Were more than halfway through March, and there's still a ton of gaming on the horizon.  Ghostbusters: Sanctum of Slime is coming out next week, and there will also be a deal on competitive and co-operative four player games, called Arcade Four-Play.  Is that right?  Really? My sources say, yes, it's called Arcade Four-Play.  Fantastic.  Don't forget, one of the best co-op titles from 2010, Halo: Reach, is coming to Games on Demand.  What are you waiting for?  Start converting you hard earned cash into Microsoft Points now.

This is somewhat of a pleasant surprise.  Ghostbusters: Sanctum of Slime, the four player co-op downloadable title from Atari, will be releasing next week - March 23rd  - on XBLA, PSN and PC.  Originally slated for "Spring"  - the game is hitting that target almost right on the nose.  

Ghostbusters: Sanctum of Slime is due out this month.  The four player local or online top down shooter is looking promising, even if it has a new cast of characters.  The latest video we have pushes the four player co-op, and you will be glad to know that the developers have removed the chance of "total protonic reversal".  Now crossing the streams is only bad form at urinals.

It seems like only yesterday that Ghostbusters: Sanctum of Slime was announced for the PC, XBox Live Arcade and PSN.  The four player co-op isometric shooter is sure to test your ability to NOT get slimed - and the best way I can think to do that is to stay away from any hot dogs you see in the game.  A Hot dog to Slimer is like Charlie Sheen to a bottle of Jack - irresistible.

The new screens show off sections of New York City as well as some of the ghosts you'll be facing  - some of them look quite large.  Perhaps from eating too many hot dogs?

Ghostbusters 2011: Sexy

As an avid gamer, modern technology should not scare me, but Twitter does with its popularity and trendy users.   However, although I use a 486 PC powered by internal hamster power, I can still find a use for the real time information highway.  For instance, it is a great tool for publishers like Atari to send out newly revealed release dates, such as Ghostbusters: Sanctum of Slime coming to XBLA and PSN on March 23rd. 

A new Ghostbusters game is coming this spring and it has what we want most in a game.  While it may not have the voice cast of 2009's Ghostbusters game, Ghostbusters: Sanctum of Slime has four player co-op both locally and online. This new trailer shows some of the different locations that you'll be vini, vidi, vici-ing in.  The gameplay looks fast and freneti, and no one's face is getting melted off with crossed streams, which is a good thing.  Judging from the above photo there might even be a vehicle element to the game. We'll have more details as they become available. 

Still slated for Spring 2011, download-only title Ghostbusters: Sanctum of Slime is fixin' to tear you a new one! According to their latest press release, Atari claims that players will be faced with "gigantic bosses" that are best defeated via a "concentrated effort". To assist you in surviving this incredible terror, up to three players can join locally or online.

It was only last week that a new Ghostbusters game was revealed, a top down shooter for Xbox Live, PSN and PC slated for a spring release next year.  Sporting four player co-op play the game would be a continuation of last years Ghostbusters game, though this time, all the players would be their own character.

Today we have the first batch of screenshots as well as gameplay video showcasing Ghostbusters: Sanctum of Slime in action.  There seems to be a good variety of things to do within the game, and the action looks to be a mix of chaotic and strategic.  We're sad to see Egon and the gang missing, but there also appears to be quite a bit of character customization, which would be a welcome addition.

There's a sequel in the works to last years hit Ghostbusters game, but it's not what you think.  While that game, developed by Terminal reality, was a full retail AAA release, the game's sequel will instead be a downloadable title developed by Wanako Games.  Wanako is perhaps most famous for their excellent co-op topdown shooter Assault Heroes.  

Update:  Official press material states this is developed by Behavior Studios, formerly Artificial Mind and Movement.

Like those games, the new Ghostbusters game, titled Ghostbusters: Sanctum of Slime, will be a top down shooter for four players either online or off.  It promises to have big boss battles where team work is crucial to succeeding as well as the ability to drive the ECTO-3 vehicle.
