Guns of Icarus Online to Include True Co-Op with Adventure Mode

It seems like only yesterday that we brought word of Guns of Icarus Online's latest Kickstarter campaign, this time to expand the game beyond its current Skirmish/PVP mode into the realm of PvE and co-op. As of yesterday, Muse Games has hit their Kickstarter goal, which is good news for all of us. Meeting that goal means that the New York based developer can begin in earnest to develop and release the "Adventure Mode."

Guns of Icarus Online Hits Kickstarter (Again), Seeks Funding for Adventure Mode

Guns of Icarus has had an interesting life. What started as a web-based airship combat game eventually turned into the more full-featured Steam release Guns of Icarus Online. The co-op play for the series has always been unusual, allowing teams of players to work together to battle rival airships in some intense rounds of mid-air combat. Even still, the game was a bit thin under the surface, offering a lot of combat with very little else.

Indie Royale Mash Bundle Includes Co-Op Games Guns of Icarus, Kung Fu Strike

A new pay what you want indie bundle has hit the streets, and this one is packing not one but two co-op games. The Indie Royale Mash Bundle features five titles in all, including Kung Fu Strike: The Warrior's Rise and Guns of Icarus Online, the former a brawler offering two player local co-op and the latter a steampunk airship combat game with four player online co-op.

Guns of Icarus Online Co-Op Clarification and Current State

Guns of Icarus was a web-based game that had an interesting concept and some pretty good co-op components, but it always felt a little lacking in some areas. There was definite promise in the underlying mechanics, though, and Muse Games decided to see if they could make some of that promise a reality by launching a Kickstarter campaign a little while back. The fruit of their efforts was recently released on Steam, though it is not a finished product. Currently, Guns of Icarus Online features team-based deathmatches, and that’s it.

As I was in town for the same event, he kindly offered to demo and discuss the game with me on camera. We looked at the ship-to-ship combat, character customization, concept art, and more.
