Thankfully there is no buttock showing over the web cam, but the recent ESRB rating of Lost Planet 2 suggests that perhaps this 4 player co-op game available later this year will have more than you bargained for! As well as hinting at some of the environments and weapons available it also suggests that some of the character models are less clad than others. Whilst male heroes will be dressed in the latest trends in armour, the female population may not be so fortunate having to go on a bug hunt wearing only “a piece of cloth hanging down the front and back portions of her body; this outfit tends to reveal her buttocks.”
We have long been intrigued by the kaiju-like bosses in Lost Planet 2. After viewing the latest trailer, featuring a spider-like, tentacled, horrific monster oozing thermal energy while appearing to swallow a rather enormous cannon, we think Sigmund Freud might find it interesting, too. Just over two minutes of video, including a cut scene and a fair amount of actual gameplay, have just been released for your viewing pleasure. The prospect of four soldiers working together to take down a boss has our co-op sense tingling in anticipation. I do wonder, though, if the developers might be compensating for something?
If there's one overwhelming theme we've seen from the screenshots, videos, and demo of Lost Planet 2 - it's that giant creatures want to eat you.
That giant creature right there with the glowing red goo pouring out of it's orifice, you might want to kill it. You might want to kill it quickly with your three teammates in the four player co-op shooter Lost Planet 2. Otherwise, well you might end up like the guy in screenshot number three.
We preview the cooperative games of 2010 in our first big feature of the new year. It's a jam packed new year already, and if the schedule holds true, there's over two dozen announced co-op titles. We're onto the second half of 2010 with some of the biggest titles of the year.
Bad news folks - Capcom is packing up the zeppelin and moving Lost Planet 2 and Monster Hunter 3 (US release) out of early next year. The latest investor docs for the company have pushed both games past the fourth fiscal quarter which ends on March 31st, 2010.
The Akrid from Lost Planet 2 are multiplying, and Capcom wants us to know what we're up against. First, Capcom has given a name to the giant salamander akrid that you faced in the demo. You can now call that giant ugly creature Gordiant. His boss profile suggests that he likes eating survivors, long walks on the beach - but may lose interest if you shoot him in the tonsils. He's one of the few bosses that will actually swallow you and your friends (and have you live to tell about it), but as long as you've got ammo, you can take him out from the inside.
Co-Op gamers should be familiar with Mr Albert Wesker as he was the main villain in Resident Evil 5. After conquering him in the game you could unlock him as a playable character in Mercenaries mode, and for us, he was a favorite.
PlayStation 3 owners should be getting their hands on the new Lost Planet 2 Co-Op demo any minute now. The rest of us? We'll have to settle for these brand new screenshots and trailer straight from the Tokyo Game Show.
Notice how the headline doesn't say "the Lost Planet 2 co-op demo"? That's because PlayStation 3 owners are getting an expanded demo on the PlayStation Network tomorrow, September 24th.
PlayStation Blog's resident grunge Chris Morell spoke with Capcom's Chris Kramer about the PlayStation 3 version of Lost Planet 2 in an exclusive GamesCom interview; Capcom is adamant in making sure you understand that this release will be at the extreme opposite end of the spectrum from the lackluster Lost Planet PlayStation 3 release last year.
Undoubtedly the most asked for feature on our site when a game is announced is "couch co-op." Couch Co-Op or split screen co-op allows two or more players to play in the same room on the same console with one copy of the game. It used to be the only way to play a co-op game until online modes came around, but thankfully it's not a complete lost art.
A friendly reminder that the four player co-op demo for Lost Planet 2 is now available to download to your Xbox 360 console. The demo is playable over Xbox Live and features a mission from the campaign and a gigantic boss battle.
Starting August 19th, which is the first day of GamesCom in Germany, Xbox Live Gold members will be able to snag the Lost Planet 2 demo on Xbox Live. The demo is the same one that's been on display at E3 and Comic-Con.
Comic Con 2009 had a nice warm welcome for Lost Planet 2 creator Capcom this year. G4 TV sat down with the producer and director of Lost Planet 2 to ask them about what to expect from the co-op experience. Since we have that interview in video form, I'll just mention a few highlights. The Co-op experience for Lost Planet 2 takes a lot into consideration from the development of Resident Evil 5. Only this time, you won't have a cohesive path to follow! Each player can pick up different weapons and take a different approach at defeating enemies, making your co-op experience in Lost Planet 2 feel customizable depending on who you play with!
