New DLC out for Magic: The Gathering - Duels of the Plainswalkers 2012

This week saw a new addition to the deck roster of Magic: The Gathering - Duels of the Planeswalkers.  The "Magic 2012 Deck Pack 1" includes two new decks: "'March to War,' a red and white deck featuring an army of brutally efficient Soldiers, and 'Ghoulkeeper,' a vile black deck featuring an unrelenting Zombie legion."  This is  the second piece of DLC for the game, following the "Ascend into Darkness" expansion that released this past September.

XBLA Co-op Deals: Magic 2012 and Doom II half off this week

Last week’s massive Xbox Live Arcade game sale was probably the best ever from a co-op standpoint, with over 10 co-op games on sale for at least 50% off. This week XBLA sales aren’t overflowing with cooperative multiplayer titles, but they still include a few good ones: namely Magic: The Gathering – Duels of the Planeswalkers 2012 and Doom II.

The newest iteration of Duels of the Planeswalkers gets an expansion in September

Ascend Into Darkness This Fall in MTG: DotP 2012's Expansion

It's been too long since we've done a news post about the game with the most ridiculously long name of all time: Magic the Gathering: Duels of the Planeswalkers 2012 (which I will henceforth simply call Duels 2012). Good news for us, then, because Wizards of the Coast has just announced that Duels 2012 will be getting an expansion this fall. If Duels 2012 is anything like the first Duels, there will be other expansions to follow for fans to gobble up. Entitled Ascend Into Darkness (I know, I always thought one descended into such things), Duels 2012's first expansion sounds like it has a good deal to offer fans. Players will be able to unlock three new decks (figure-headed by Liliana Vess, Ajani Goldenmane, and Ral Zarek) as well as four new cards for each of the original thirteen decks. A myriad of single-player campaign content will also be added upon purchasing the DLC. Here's the full list of what it has to offer:

Co-Op Release Alert for the Week of 6.20.2011

Holy Cow!  We missed two weeks of Co-Op Release Alerts.  We're sure that your wallets are absolutely bristling with money, since we haven't been there to tell you which co-op games are available.  Without these weekly notifications you may have missed out on games like Green Lantern: Rise of the Manhunters, Men of War: Vietnam, Operation Flashpoint: Red River, Red Faction: Armageddon, Magic: The Gathering - Duels of the Planeswalkers 2012, and The Adventures of Shuggy.  Wow.  Looks like a lot of stuff came out while some of us were absorbed with E3.  Luckily, the rest of the Co-Optimus staff was on the ball and delivered awesome co-op reviews for Lantern, Red Faction, and Magic.  We even have an Op Flashpoint cooperative review coming soon!

Magic: The Gathering - Duels of the Planeswalkers 2012 Gets a Release Date and a Shiny New Video

Magic: The Gathering - Duels of the Planeswalkers 2012 will be out in 2011.  Weird, we know.  Actually, the game will be out next month.  But I guess Magic: The Gathering - Duels of the Planeswalkers June 15, 2011 the Re-Shuffling, didn't test well with focus groups.  That's right, Magic: The Gathering - Duels of the - oh, come on!  We'll refer to the game as "DOTP 2012" or maybe even "it"  for the rest of this post.  "It" will be out in just a few short weeks.  What's got us pumped for the latest digital version of MTG?  Archenemy Mode, of course!  In case you missed the IGN article, Archenemy Mode lets three players team up online to battle a series of bosses.  That's right, three player online co-op is supported.  AI will even take over if one of your lame friends backs out of the match.  (We hope the AI knows what it's doing) This is a welcome addition to the local two player co-op mode, Two-Headed Giant which (hopefully) will be returning.
