Mario and Sonic Gear Up for Winter This OctoberJuly 15th, 2009 at 3:49 PM by Jim "txshurricane" McLaughlin

An official release date has been set for Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games, landing the four-player co-op Wii title on store shelves well in advance of the actual winter season. October 16th, you'll be free to ski and skate your heart out as your favorite character from either series, and better yet: with up to three friends!

In all honesty, we can't seem to get a good head of steam for this one just yet. The original was developed and released without much ado, and while it was met with fairly decent reviews it didn't cause any major ripples among Wii owners. That said: co-op is always better than the alternative, and we look forward to seeing if this sequel can inject new energy into the unique fledgling series.

Mario and Sonic and You and You -- Four Player Co-Op for Winter OlympicsJune 08th, 2009 at 12:21 PM by Jim "txshurricane" McLaughlin

Thanks to Joystiq for the screengrab

An odd preview popped up at Joystiq for Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games during E3 week, confirming four-player co-op locally for Wii.

While this is small-time news for most gamers, Wii owners should be glad that even fairly obscure games are getting the co-op treatment. Whether or not Olympic Winter Games fares well in sales, developers adding co-op is a habit that we could get used to.

Mario and Sonic Switch Seasons, Play TogetherFebruary 16th, 2009 at 11:07 AM by Jim "txshurricane" McLaughlin

SEGA announced last week that Mario and Sonic would again be competing in the Olypmic games...only this time, they're taking to the ski slopes and ice rinks, and they're doing it in co-op!

Of course, the same competitions that Wii owners love to showcase at parties will still be present. But when the guests leave, you can now kick back with a friend or loved on and play co-op as well.

Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games will be available winter 2009 for the Nintendo Wii and Nintendo DS, and will include Wii Balance Board and Nintendo Wi-Fi support.
