Co-op Possible for future Dragon Age and Mass Effect gamesNovember 17th, 2009 at 4:35 PM by Katrina "ShadokatRegn" Pawlowski

In a recent interview with Videogamer.com, Mass Effect and Dragon Age developer Bioware had offered the possibility of co-op in future games. Western RPG's are becoming more interesting with co-op, mimicking the popularity of MMO's in a controlled environment. We are already well aware that they support social gaming, so this would be the next logical step to us. When asked about the possibility of co-op in future titles, BioWare co-founder and CEO Dr. Ray Muzyka replied:

"Sure, we would consider it. We haven't announced anything on that front yet, but those are interesting ideas. They could make a great gameplay experience. Whether we'll do them or not remains to be decided."

Co-Op Quotes - Mass Effect 2September 05th, 2009 at 2:04 AM by Nicholas "bapenguin" Puleo

Bioware on why Mass Effect 2 doesn't have co-op, yet how they recognize its importance.

"We consider all features, and we recognize at Bioware recognize the benefits and the fun [of co-op]. Most of us are co-op players ourselves.  We felt that if we could do it, and do it really really well, it would be in the game.  We had to look at where we've taken the direction of the game so far and how [co-op] would affect things.  We didn't want to just do it sort of good, people would recognize that it's just a bullet point."  - Mac Walters - Lead Writer for Mass Effect 2

We at Co-optimus.com tend to preach friendly co-op gaming, and notice many of the single player games out there feel somewhat cheated out of a quality co-op experience.

Some games had co-op left on the concept floor, cut out in the final stages, or some that seem to have missed the co-op boat completely. This is the co-optimus list of games that we feel could really use co-op for an improved gaming experience.

Some time ago we posted a rumor on how Mass Effect 2, an RPG from Bioware, would have a co-op mode.  And while we still don't have an official confirmation of the co-op mode, we do know that Bioware is very interested in making multiplayer games.

Dr. Greg Zeschuk, one of the studio heads at Bioware said: "Well, we haven't disclosed a feature set at this point," before Muzyka added: "But multiplayer is something that, at a broad level, BioWare is interested in exploring in our games in the future."
