Phantom Breaker: Battle Grounds is a co-op beat-em-up game that hit Xbox Live Arcade in 2013. A year later it found more fans when it moved to PlayStation Vita. Japanese developer 5pb Games has revealed that there is an Xbox LIVE update for arcade beat-em-up Phantom Breaker: Battle Grounds currently in the works, and will be in gamer’s hands shortly. We have the full patch notes of changes that are to be made, so read up and be ready for when they arrive.
As our resident beat-em-up enthusiast, I am of course highly stoked for Japanese developer 5pb’s upcoming brawler Phantom Breaker: Battle Grounds. Since its announcement, we’ve known Battle Grounds would feature 4-player co-op, but details were scarce – partially because the tiny developer doesn’t seem to have an English-speaker on staff. At last they have released a couple of trailers highlighting the game’s cooperative and competitive modes, so now we know what to expect!
Sadly, the US release of anime-style versus fighting game Phantom Breaker has been put on indefinite hold due to publisher 7sixty's financial troubles. However, the game's actual developer 5pb remains in good shape. They're hard at work preparing a spin-off called Phantom Breaker: Battle Grounds for Xbox Live Arcade. Even if you were unfamiliar with the series before now, this lovely new batch of screens should peak your interest.
Phantom Breaker, the anime-style one-on-one fighting game from 5pb (makers of co-op import Bullet Soul) is due for a western release this fall. It seems 5pb likes all kinds of fighters, as the follow-up game Phantom Breaker: Battle Grounds will be a side-scrolling beat-em-up. Such games usually benefit from 2-player co-op, but Battle Grounds goes above and beyond the call of duty with both online and offline 4-player co-op. A Battle Royale versus mode will round out the multiplayer offerings. Not too shabby!
