Crackdown 2 to Open to Scottish Public, Festival GoersNovember 06th, 2009 at 4:20 PM by Jason "OrigamiPanther" Love

Dundee, Scotland: home to the Tay Rail Bridge (seen above) and Crackdown 2 dev Ruffian Games

It seems that Ruffian Games will be showing off Crackdown 2, the sequel to the "still fun after all these years" Crackdown, to the general public next weekend at the NEoN Digital Arts Festival.  This is the first time the game will be shown and demoed outside of a major trade show event like E3 or TGS.  The catch?  The event is in Dundee, Scotland.  So unless you live in the area, have already acquired plane/event tickets, or are really good friends with Nightcrawler, you likely won't be amongst those lucky few that will get to check out this promising co-op title in person for the first time.  Fortunately, any new details that are shown will undoubtedly be disseminated across the Internet in less time than you can say "I wonder if the sequel will come with a Halo: Reach beta," and you can be sure we'll be posting all the latest and greatest co-op related news just as soon as it does.

Additional information about the NEoN Digital Arts Festival can be found at the following link.

Dawn of War 2: Chaos Rising Hands on ImpressionsOctober 30th, 2009 at 10:11 AM by Nicholas "bapenguin" Puleo

Dawn of War 2's first expansion pack called Chaos Rising is set to hit the game in March of next year.  IGN was lucky enough to get their hands on it already, and so far it sounds like there's quite a few game changers here.

The game raises the unit level cap from twenty to thirty, and you'll be able to bring your old characters from the first campaign with you.  Sadly, you'll lose your unique items and armor in doing so.  The good news is Chaos Rising adds a ton of new items to acquire, including Chaos based ones.

Din Would Like A Word About That CurseOctober 13th, 2009 at 11:39 PM by Katrina "ShadokatRegn" Pawlowski

Depths of Peril - Din's Curse doesn't exactly have screen shots yet.

Din, champion of the Gods, is not pleased with you one bit. You were not very nice in your life, and have now been cursed to live out a second life chock full of redemption. You're charged with being a savior of mankind, and will roam the plains of Western Aleria until Din is satisfied with you. It's not all dark and dreary though, as Din's Curse will give you a dynamically changing world to Action/RPG in with unique quests, different townspeople, and new locations every time you start a new game.

Gameboomers.com has interviewed Steven Peeler, creator of Soldak Entertainment who are responsible for the development of the Co-op Action/RPG Din's Curse. We wanted to know what this game has that other Action/RPG's don't, so we're sharing what we've learned.

Crackdown 2 PreviewOctober 05th, 2009 at 4:34 PM by Katrina "ShadokatRegn" Pawlowski

The Tokyo Game Show has given us a few insights into games that were just announced at E3, including the highly anticipated co-op sequel to Crackdown. Crackdown 2 was giving journalists a chance to test drive this sequel behind closed doors, and we have a preview or so to share. We have been looking forward to the sequel that was almost nixed by Microsoft due to low expectations before Crackdown knocked our socks off, but we have a new team behind the scenes this time. With Ruffian studio taking the reins with Crackdown 2, does the sequel hold up to the original, or are these shoes just too big to fill?

"LEGO With Guns" - Army of Two: The 40th Day's Gun CustomizationOctober 02nd, 2009 at 1:34 PM by Jim "txshurricane" McLaughlin

The image above may be a little too small to see very clearly, so allow me to describe what's displayed here...

What you're looking at is an FNH SCAR rifle with an CAR-5 tactical stock (most commonly seen on M4-style rifles), an M203 grenade launcher, a Leupold Mark 4 CQ/T "circle-dot" scope, and an HK36 barrel...with a soda can silencer.

This is the kind of customization that Army of Two: The 40th Day will allow players to tinker with. You can literally attached any part of any other gun to your creation. Attachments range from the common to the rare to the outlandish -- and every attachment has an impact on your gun's performance.

When Kingdom Hearts makes its way to the PSP, Co-op will come with it. Focused around the characters Terra, Ventus and Aqua, Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep will have 3-player link-up co-op. This particular co-op will take place in the battle realm called the Mirage Arena. This arena will give players the opportunity to replay bosses cooperatively, or select special co-op levels to play through.

The Warriors: Street Brawl Comes Out To PlaaaaaaySeptember 15th, 2009 at 6:03 PM by Katrina "ShadokatRegn" Pawlowski

It's been 30 years since the first time audiences heard the inspirational "Can you dig it?" speech. To commemorate the anniversary of the film, a brand new beat 'em up game carrying The Warriors colors will be available. The Warriors: Street Brawl is that title, and we have high hopes for it.

This time, however, Rockstar won't be holding the reigns to make another Grand Theft Auto style Warriors title - even after the success of their Warriors game 4 years ago. Paramount Games is wholly responsible for the arcade title this time, and we hope they got their co-op, and Warriors right.

After I had a chance to demo Max Blastronaut at PAX, I got to play Cadenza Interactive’s entry to the Dream.Build.Play. contest, Sol Survivor.  Like many tower defense games, you build towers to stave off an ever-increasing number and variety of “creeps” from reaching a certain point on a map.  Unlike many tower defense games, however, you can fend off the horde with the help of a friend.
