Grand Theft Auto V, or GTA V, has been revealed in the latest issue of Game Informer and it looks to continue the Rockstar Games tradition of making open world games that push the boundaries of technology and story telling. But one thing the team has yet to tackle is a true co-op campaign in any of their open world games. Sure GTA 4 had some co-op missions and Red Dead Redemption took things a bit further with gang hideouts and free roam, but we haven't seen anything to the depth the team at Volition have done with the Saints Row franchise.
Back in the days of the ZX Spectrum I used to buy huge collections of game called things like '15 Massive Hits for £10'. On November 6th Rockstar are bringing back this tradition, but for $59.99, by bundling several of their games together and selling them at one price. Rockstar Games Collection Edition 1 will house the co-op friendly Red Dead Redemption, but also Grand Theft Auto: Episodes from Liberty City, Midnight Club: Los Angeles Complete Edition and L.A. Noire.
Christian Cantamessa, co-writer/designer of several Rockstar games (including Manhunt, Manhunt 2, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, and Co-Optimus community favorite Red Dead Redemption) has signed on to direct a post-apocalyptic film - which he also co-wrote - with a very original sounding premise.
Don't own a copy of Red Dead Redemption yet? Firstly, why not, its one of the best games this generation. Secondly, fear not, as Rockstar Games have just announced the release date for the rumored Game of the Year edition; Oct 11th in the US and Oct 14th elsewhere. The pack will contain the original game as well as all the paid and free DLC.
You've decided to splurge on a second system for that one game you and your spouse just HAVE to play together. You got it. You beat it. Now what are you going to do?
It's been a long time since I last visited New Austin. Red Dead Redemption's take on the American Western was one of gaming's highlights last year. It appears Rockstar would like to give those of you who missed out a chance to cowboy up and hit the open trail. The keen eyes over at Eurogamer spotted a Red Dead Redemption: Game of the a Year edition at the BBFC. For those of you who don't know your European ratings board acronyms, (or are too lazy to use Google) that's the British Board of Film Classification. The RDR: GOTY edition is said to have the Undead Nightmare DLC, but it's unknown if the other DLC's will be included.
Instead of long-term gaming, what have I done instead? Spent my time playing smaller games with quick missions or games that are easily picked up and put back down. Though it’s difficult to tear myself away, I feel that this limited gaming has helped preserve my sanity during these dreaded finals...
Jim points his steed to the brown pastures of Red Dead Redemption for another round of cowboys and...uh, cowboys. The Tumbleweed Gold Rush is afoot, and Jim has a gun and a badge!
It's a good time to have an internet connection. Yesterday we brought you news of the big "11 for 11" sale on the PlayStation Network. Today we announce that a plethora of material from 2K and Rockstar games is on sale on the Xbox LIVE Marketplace. All of the Borderlands DLC is on sale for 50% off, and Red Dead Redemption has DLC on sale for 38% to 50% off.
Our next Xbox Live co-op night is upon us and we're headed to the Old West to take on gangs, bandits, and of course jackelopes. Yes, the game of choice is Red Dead Redemption, and we'll be gathering a posse together to take on the bandit hideouts, hunting challenges, and tackle co-op missions.
In a sort of competitive co-op spirit, Red Dead Redemption has a challenge for you. The challenge is simple: collect XP through any of the multiplayer modes available in the game. The goal here is not only to boost your own XP in the game, but to accumulate XP as a console. So the Xbox 360 and PS3 will tally all of the XP earned by players to see which console is truly superior in the Rockstar Wild West.
Today the NPD Group released the final sales estimates for 2010 including console sales figures and game sales numbers. On the gaming front, the top 10 best selling titles were unveiled, and there's not too many shockers on there. What's good to know is that cooperative games held their own, or at least, games containing co-op modes.
After the slew of DLC releases in rapid succession for Red Dead Redemption, there were a few issues that piled up. It looks like an update is now live to fix little things like being able to play with people in Japan, and not having to restart every time you switch from single player to multi-player.
The other day I was asked what I thought of Dragon Age by one of my buddies. I sat for a moment and finally admitted “I have it, but haven’t played...” Why would someone do that? I have a strange quirk where I don’t like starting games unless I have time to finish them...
