Red Alert 3: Commander's Challenge Doesn't Have Co-OpSeptember 16th, 2009 at 7:40 AM by Nicholas "bapenguin" Puleo

Yesterday we reported that today's XBLA release of Red Alert 3: Commander's Challenge would be a 2 player co-op experience.  Sadly, today we can confirm the game does not contain a co-op mode.

An Electronic Arts representative has told us the Xbox.com Game Page contains an error, and there's no offline or online co-op in the game.  I guess that's why it's not called Red Alert 3: Commanders' Challenge.

This Week's XBLA Releases Are 100% Co-OpSeptember 15th, 2009 at 10:52 AM by Marc "DjinniMan" Allie

Another week, another Xbox Live Arcade release or two.  This week, both games feature co-op!  First up is a game fans of classic arcade titles are quite familiar with.  Bubble Bobble Neo is a nice, HD remake of the old school dino-bubble-blowing original.  Most notable is a 4 player co-op mode, meaning someone gets to be a pink dinosaur (I got dibs!)

On the other end of the cuteness spectrum, we have Command & Conquer Red Alert 3 Commander's Challenge (or CCRA3CC, for not-so-short). We don't have the exact co-op details for the game yet, but it appears to be a series of short missions, and allows two player co-op.  Both games will set you back 800 points, or $10 from your wallet.  Of course, that wallet is probably pretty thin already, as the fall rush is already upon us!

Co-Op Release Alert: Red Alert 3 (PS3)March 24th, 2009 at 11:00 AM by Marc "DjinniMan" Allie

First it was coming, then it wasn't, and now it's finally here.  The Playstation 3 version of Command and Conquer Red Alert 3 releases today.  Dubbed the Ultimate Edition, this version of the game, previously available for Xbox 360 and PC, features enhanced graphics and new content.  You can buy the game from Amazon at a light discount by clicking on the image above, which features significantly more booty than the boxart for previous versions of the game.

Red Alert Ultimate Edition Demo Now Available on PSNMarch 21st, 2009 at 10:08 AM by Nicholas "bapenguin" Puleo

After a few ups and downs, possible cancellations, and everything else - Red Alert 3 has finally come to the PlayStation 3.  The game, titled Red Alert 3: Ultimate Edition, releases next week; but you can get your hands on a demo this weekend on the PlayStation Store.

The demo offers two campaign missions of the full game's 27, as well as a tutorial and is fully playable in the game's two player co-op mode.  While you are waiting for the demo to download, be sure to check out our co-op interview we did before the Xbox 360 version was released.

Red Alert 3 Coming to Playstation 3 as "Ultimate Edition"January 15th, 2009 at 3:57 PM by Jim "txshurricane" McLaughlin

It's not an "Ultimate Edition" until she's naked!

Previously, the Playstation 3 version of real-time strategy title Red Alert 3 was put on "indefinite hold" by Electronic Arts. In November, it was revealed that a potential Playstation 3 version was in the works, and would include special features not seen on any other platform.

Now, PS3 Fanboy reports that an EA Store listing -- now apparently removed -- has revealed the exclusive content, as well as practically confirming the title, despite no official renouncement of the hold status.

Red Alert 3 Co-Op ReviewJanuary 05th, 2009 at 12:03 PM by Nicholas "bapenguin" Puleo

We take EA's ambitious Red Alert sequel for a spin on both the Xbox 360 and PC. The RTS supports 2 player co-op throughout it's entire campaign. But is co-op, Hollywood actors and cleavage enough for the latest in the series?

Red Alert 3 PC Gets Patch, Co-op Lobby, World EditorDecember 16th, 2008 at 6:18 PM by Marc "DjinniMan" Allie

Nick and Mike both talked about Red Alert 3 on the latest podcast, and we have some news for co-opers who own the PC version of that game.  A patch is now available, taking the game to version 1.05.  Besides your standard bug fixes adn balance tweaks, one item of interest to Co-Optimus readers has been added:  a lobby is now available for the online co-op mode.

Fans of custom map building tools will clap in anticipation of the Red Alert 3 World Builder.  Who knows, maybe you can create the ultimate co-op level!  You may recall a bit of the controversy about the games copy protection scheme, which we covered earlier.  A DRM deauthorization tool is also now available, allowing you to deactivate installations of the game, so you don't go over the limit of five PC installations.

You can download the patch and tools at the link below.

Red Alert 3 Co-Op Demo on Xbox MarketplaceNovember 28th, 2008 at 8:56 AM by Nicholas "bapenguin" Puleo

Wanna try your hands on the co-op RTS Red Alert 3.   The PC version has been out for sometime now, with the 360 version being a few weeks old.  Those of you wanting to give it a spin on Microsoft's console are in luck, as a demo is out and now available to Xbox Live Goooooold members.

Downloading it is simple...sure you could do it the old way, but who wants to do that?  Just click here and follow the demo link.  How awesome is that?  You can now download Xbox Live Demos via the Marketplace website, and the next time your Xbox is turned on the download will begin automagically.

In other Red Alert 3 news, if you want to play the co-op campaign via LAN, up until now you were out of luck.  Not to fret!  Some l3333t h4x0r has unlocked the secrets of Yuri and created a LAN patch.  Enjoy!

Would You Buy Co-Op Expansion Packs?November 13th, 2008 at 10:07 AM by Nicholas "bapenguin" Puleo

That's the question EA wants to know.  While nothing is set in stone yet, EA is toiling with the idea of having seperate expansions for the game that are specific to what a player wants. The idea came up for the recently released Red Alert 3, and looks like it could actually happen.  Examples of this would be a single player story expansion, or a multiplayer map pack expansion, or even a co-op expansion.

Producer and C&C TV presenter David Silverman has gone on record stating that this model of expansion would "be a little bit more nimble and help address the demand from the fans faster."

Sounds good to me, I'm all for co-op expansions!  Frankly, standard vs. multiplayer has bored me lately.

Red Alert 3 Interview - Greg Kasavin on Influences and Design of a Co-Op RTSNovember 12th, 2008 at 12:02 PM by Nicholas "bapenguin" Puleo

Most people typically think of first person shooters when it comes to cooperative gameplay, but Electronic Arts wants to break that mold with a co-op RTS.  Red Alert 3 has taken on such a task by providing a co-op experience throughout the game's entire campaign.  We sat down with the game's Xbox 360 Producer Greg Kasavin to talk about the challenges of such a task.
