Resident Evil 5 Alternate Edition Coming as DLC to North America and EuropeNovember 10th, 2009 at 10:32 AM by Nicholas "bapenguin" Puleo

A few weeks ago Capcom offered the community a choice - Do you want Resident Evil 5: Alternate Edition as DLC or a stand alone disc.  The results are in and the decisions was unanimous.  I know, you know the result, you read the headline.

RE5: Alternate Edition will be available this spring on both the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 as downloadable content.  The two hour co-op content takes Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine on the assault of Ozwell Spencer's horror-filled castle, an event that was three years prior to the game itself.  PlayStation 3 owners will get an alternative control scheme as well that supports the upcoming PS3 motion controller.

Did you vote in the poll?  Did your choice win?

Capcom Offers Choice for RE5 Alternate EditionOctober 06th, 2009 at 8:05 AM by Nicholas "bapenguin" Puleo

Last week we unveiled a special director's cut of Resident Evil 5.  Titled the Alternate Edition, the content is being released in Japan in disc format on the PlayStation 3.  In the rest of the world though?  That's still up in the air.

Capcom is giving gamers a chance to weigh in on the subject, giving RE5 co-op fans a chance to vote whether the content is made available as DLC or retail packaging.

This (retail box) makes absolutely perfect sense for the Japanese gaming market, where the uptake of digital content is a bit behind the western markets. However, based on the success of the RE5 "Versus" downloadable content, as well as digital-only titles like Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix and Marvel VS Capcom 2, we know that the demand for DLC in the west is huge. More and more, gamers in North America and Europe want content immediately and are less inclined to be tied to boxes and packages.;

What would you guys prefer?

Resident Evil 5 Director's Cut UnveiledSeptember 30th, 2009 at 12:55 PM by Nicholas "bapenguin" Puleo

If you played through Resident Evil 5, there were a few flashbacks in the game to Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine's assault on Ozwell Spencer's horror-filled castle, an event that was three years prior to the game itself.  Capcom plans to release the two hour mission in a director's cut of the game next year, unfortunately due to the size of it, we won't see it as separate DLC for existing PlayStation 3 owners.

Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles, Chronicling this NovemberAugust 26th, 2009 at 11:09 AM by Nicholas "bapenguin" Puleo

Capcom has just announced that Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles will be shipping for the Wii on November 17th of this year.   The two player co-op on rails shooter takes players through a retelling of Resident Evil 2.  To celebrate the impending launch Capcom has a whole slew of goodies to snag.

The first is the official T-Shirt, which was made famous at Comic-Con this year.  The "Let Your Darkside Out" shirt puts a zombie face on your face, great at parties and nursing homes.  That's available from Capcom's store for $24.99.  You can also get the shirt just for preordering from Gamestop.  You can also follow Leon and Claire on Twitter to find out what's going on in their world.  Right now there seems to be a bit of jealousy going on!

Resident Evil 5 Co-Ops Computers on September 15thJuly 16th, 2009 at 8:48 PM by Nicholas "bapenguin" Puleo

Capcom has announced that Resident Evil 5, the two player cooperative survival horror shooter that was released earlier this year on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, will be making it's way to Windows PC on September 15th.

Resident Evil 5 features full 3D support for NVidia's GeForce 3D Vision technology which allows for some eye popping visuals.  If you are lucky enough to own a pair of these glasses already then head over to NVidia's site for an exclusive RE5 3D Benchmark and some 3D screenshots.

This game was reviewed very highly on Co-Optimus, and I expect the PC version will continue the trend - with the added bonus of scary infected jumping off your screen at you!

New Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles ScreenshotsJuly 03rd, 2009 at 8:52 AM by Nicholas "bapenguin" Puleo

Capcom has released a fresh hot and steaming batch of screenshots for their upcoming two player co-op on rails shooter, Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles.  The game was announced back when Resident Evil 5 released, and is a wii exclusive title that takes players through the story of Resident Evil 2 from a slightly different gameplay style.

The game's co-op mode allows each player to control an on screen cursor to shoot up those pesky zombies, creatures, and other nasties that litter the way as you control Leon and Claire.  According to the press material, the main characters will face their own inner demons - I think that's just a code for the dilemma of releasing a mature title on the Wii.

Microsoft Preview Event: 2009 Holiday ShowcaseJune 25th, 2009 at 7:11 PM by Nicholas "bapenguin" Puleo

Earlier this week Microsoft held an event to showcase some upcoming holiday products including Windows 7, Zune HD, and numerous Xbox 360 titles.  We've already written up some extensive coverage of Halo 3: ODST, which if you haven't already, you should go check out.  Despite ODST being a highlight of sorts, there were other interesting things worth mentioning

FLOCK! Soundtrack Available For Free!May 30th, 2009 at 7:32 PM by Nicholas "bapenguin" Puleo

Like free things?  You do?  Oh good.  Did you like FLOCK!?  That quirky co-op puzzle game from Capcom where you heard up farm animals.  It was just alright?  Yeah we kinda agree.  But that doesn't mean the soundtrack wasn't really cool.  Now the kind folks at Capcom have released the full soundtrack in digital form for FREE!  Sweet.

Capcom is also offering the Resident Evil 5 soundtrack for download through Sumthing Digital.com for only $9.99.  Sound steep?  Well you do get 87 tracks, so that's like....$0.37 a track!  If you want the three disc version you can get it from Amazon too, but that'll cost you a little bit more.

Resident Evil 5 Coming to PCs Later this YearMay 04th, 2009 at 8:21 AM by Nicholas "bapenguin" Puleo

Earlier this year Resident Evil 5 found its way onto the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.  The game featured a very well done co-op campaign as well as an online co-op mode called Mercenaries.  Capcom has announced that console gamers aren't the only ones who get to follow the adventures of Chris and Sheva as PC owners will get their keyboards covered in blood later this year.

It appears that the PC version of the game will only support online play, no split screen, but will be getting a brand new 3D mode.  To utilize the 3D effects players will need to have a pair of NVidia's GeForce Vision glasses.  No released date has been set, but we expect the game late this summer.

Be sure to check out our full review of Resident Evil 5.

Last night we had a very successful Xbox Live Co-Op night featuring Resident Evil 5 on the Xbox 360.  But we don't want to leave our PlayStation fans out in the cold, so we're giving away one copy of the PS3 version of the game to a lucky reader.

And while we don't promote (or even condone) versus gameplay on this site, we do have a code for the Xbox 360 version of the Versus Mode DLC.

To enter to win either item simply reply to this thread and tell us what you want to get your grubby zombie paws on.  Winners will be drawn this Sunday, April 12th, at 9PM Eastern.
