[UPDATE] Third-Person Perspective for Modern Warfare 2 Confirmed, Not for Co-OpOctober 26th, 2009 at 11:40 AM by Jim "txshurricane" McLaughlin

This, plus crosshairs, please.

Among the many Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 rumors that we've sifted through in the last several months, the prospect of an optional third-person perspective has only come up once that I remember, and not in a plausible context. In the opinion of a last-gen SOCOM and Star Wars Battlefront fan, the option to swap to third-person in a Modern Warfare game would be a pretty great addition.

Now, it seems, a video and screenshot have surfaced that bring credibility to once-scorned rumor: Modern Warfare 2 appears to support the third-person perspective during private matches.

UPDATE: Joystiq grabbed an interview snippet wherein the third-person camera was confirmed by Robert Bowling, but only for certain playlists and private matches so far. Here's hoping this option is extended to hosts of private co-op rooms as well.

[Updated] Hans Zimmer is Scoring Modern Warfare 2August 27th, 2009 at 10:59 AM by Jim "txshurricane" McLaughlin

Are you not entertained?!!

The Call of Duty series has done nothing but build steam since the original title, and now Infinity Ward is pulling out all the stops with Modern Warfare 2; this latest rumor is one that should please fans of cinema.

Straight from the website of talent agency Gorfaine/Schwartz and via Kotaku comes the unofficial report that legendary Hollywood composer Hans Zimmer is providing the score for Modern Warfare 2. This follows official news of rapper 50 Cent and actors Keith David and Barry Pepper doing voice work in the game.

Hans Zimmer is my wife's all-time favorite composer; ever since I've known her, the Gladiator soundtrack has always been her most cherished album. This whole two-player couch co-op thing may work out yet...

UPDATE: Gorfaine/Schwartz has confirmed the report, as linked by Infinity Ward's Robert Bowling.

Bioshock 2's Co-Op Was Just a DreamMarch 20th, 2009 at 7:40 AM by Katrina "ShadokatRegn" Pawlowski

Perhaps the Co-Op is out in the ocean somewhere.

Boy has the Internet been noisy with debates about the announcement that Bioshock 2 would feature co-op. The rumor started from a supposed Game Informer article, and while the article was real, the internet made up the misinformation and it quickly spread.

Based on what folks read there were numerous mixed reactions.  Is this be a good addition to the series? Is it a bad addition to the series? How would co-op even work in this situation? What is this Big Sister thing? Oh wait, that last one is unrelated.

Well, now this debate will look pretty pointless. Developer 2K Boston spent some time debunking rumors around Bioshock 2 on the Cult of Rapture website, briefly mentioning the co-op.

"I will let you know that there won’t be any spliced-up rhinos, Soviet invasions, or co-op, but you may very well see a Big Daddy or two.”

Director Jordan Thomas reiterated that sentiment by telling Game Informer:

"Single-player is obviously BioShock's legacy, and it's extremely important to us."

Laying the Co-op rumor to rest, I'm still curious what Co-optimus thinks. I've expressed my thoughts on horror with a friend, now it's your turn! How would Bioshock 2 have changed in your mind, had it supported co-op as initially promised?

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Details "Leaked", DebunkedMarch 04th, 2009 at 2:46 PM by Jim "txshurricane" McLaughlin

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare PS3 screenshot

Get ready for a plausible rumor with a less plausible source.

The internet is abuzz today with a rumor that many are calling "too good to be true". The live Twitter page that Infinity Ward set up as a suggestion "Tweet" collector pertaining to the not-yet-officially announced Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 was adorned with a series of Tweets from someone who claims to be an internal play tester, and they were in a sharing mood. A full list of MW2 details has been spreading across the internet, promising a healthy myriad of both Modern Warfare and World at War features...as well as a few new surprises.

Gamers arguing that the info is credible point out that the culprit is now banned, and the Tweets are removed. Gamers ruling not credible propose that the Tweets were fake and were pulled down by the culprit as a courtesy. Either way, Infinity Ward is locked up tight.

Among the list are the following:

*Similar version to Nazi Zombies, however details are unknown
*NO guest players online, 1 player per console
*Offline/Online Co-op
*Release is set for sometime in November
*New army tags will be available to add different elements in campaign (similar to halo skulls)
*Campaign-only weapons

For obvious reasons, this portion of the list caught our eye. For the entire list in all of its extremely enticing glory, please click "Read More" and feel free to expect Infinity Ward to live up to the high co-op bar that is being set by rumors and Tweets alike.

UPDATE: Infinity Ward programmer Rayme Vinson and community manager Robert Bowling went to the original thread for a rumorsmash. Continue reading...

Nevermind Never Officially Confirmed for Rock Band DLCAugust 29th, 2008 at 2:16 AM by Nicholas "bapenguin" Puleo

If you are like me, one of the things you were most excited about was when Harmonix announced Nevermind from Nirvana as a full downloadable ablum on Rock Band.  There's just one problem, Harmonix never said such a thing.

In a day and age where news is reported in split second blog posts, a lot of times things get taken out of context.  Rock Band 2 was on display at a certain social gathering tonight, and Harmonix Community Manager Sean Baptiste was there.  According to Baptiste, they never specifically announced Nevermind would be available, it was simply given as an example of classic albums that could appear on the service.  According to him a press release or any other official material was never put out.  But fret not, he said just because it was never officially confirmed doesn't mean it can't happen.   So it looks like you and four of your buddies won't be jamming out to the best Nirvana song ever (that's Drain You in case you didn't know) - but there's still hope.

You would think they would patch the USB port stuff.. Its just silly to have to unplug stuff that you usually just leave plugged
Yeah but I think it would still be cool!
