Well, I'm back from vacation, and man did I miss a lot. Apparently co-op was a big deal at E3, what with the torrent of information that has been appearing on the site. However, even though E3 has passed, that torrent of info has not completely stopped. Apparently, Gearbox's new sci-fi shooter/RPG, Borderlands, will have co-op. TeamXbox has the details, based off their eyes-on demo of the game. Co-op details on the game are scarce (though TeamXbox lists the game as having 2-4 player co-op), but apparently there will be some form of weapon/gear exchanging between teammates. Count me in, though I was in on day one, what with the whole "500,000 different weapons" claim. So, anyone else really pleased?
From the NES to the PC to the arcades, many games have been based on the storied Aliens franchise. Desperate marines gunning down hordes of slimy xenomorphs in confined spaces make for compelling gameplay. The graphical firepower and online capabilities of next-gen systems look to continue this trend in "Aliens: Colonial Marines".
GamesRadar reports a few new details about the game, which is being developed for the PC, Xbox 360, and PS3. These tidbits look quite promising, especially for those who prefer to duke it out against the Aliens with a friend (or three) at their back.
Set after the third Alien film, the game features a squad of Marines (naturally) waging war against the Aliens in order to locate Ripley and other characters featured in the films. Locations throughout the quest will be varied, including wide open outdoor areas and cityscapes as well as the expected confined spaces. Players will be able to reenact the tension of memorable scenes from the movies during Make A Stand scenarios. In these events, Marines will be given time to seal doors, set up traps, and dig in before a near limitless horde of Aliens arrives and the bloodletting begins.
We've just posted our review of the latest Playstation Network and Xbox Live Arcade from Capcom called Rocketmen: Axis of Evil. The game is based on a popular WizKids card game of the same name and features 4 player co-op in a cell-shaded Smash TV style game. Do the RPG elements add enough depth to make this a must have title? Read our review to find out!
