Dead on Arrival 2, the mobile zombie shooting arcade game currently under development by N3V Games, is ready for you. Well, its beta is ready for you, anyway. The team recently opened sign-ups for the Android beta phase of the game, which will commence June 1st. You'll need a decent Android device, of course, and N3V also warns that potential testers should have an iron stomach and a moral code that allows you to shoot zombified friends in the head. Check and check!

Newly Released 'Pressure' Provides Positively Silly, Action-Racer Co-op for Shooter LoversChristopher Metz

I reminisced about Hanna-Barbera cartoons the other day, looking back on all the kooky stuff they put forth over the years. One that really stood out from the rest was this show called “Wacky Races”, where a dozen unique car racers used various slapstick devices to run each other off the road and win the race. Flash forward to today and I recently was notified of a new co-op racing game called “Pressure” that captured that same sort of wackiness the show brought. German-based, independent studio, Chasing Carrots, aimed to make Pressure a unique, fun 2-player experience due to their passion for co-op gaming.

Inversion Co-Op ReviewTally Callahan

Inversion may be remembered as a game with one of the most impressive delay histories ever. Despite suffering from at least three delays (four for Europe), it's finally out and the question is were the delays worth it? Find out in our co-op review.

New Screens For Inversion (Yep, Still Not Out Yet)Tally Callahan

It seems like we're been showing you guys new screens and new videos for third-person shooter Inversion for, well, forever now. And yes, most of the associated news posts have had eyeroll-worthy references and puns about gravity, so you've probably had more than your fill of those by now. The good news? Not only will I refrain from such puns, but we have yet another batch of screenshots! The bad news? The game still isn't out yet! Inversion has suffered from a crazy amount of delays. The final good news? It's due out June 5th (for reals, this time... we hope).

Inversion supports 2-player online or local co-op for the Xbox 360 and PS3. The promised day is June 5th.

Project Dropship: A Square Enix Co-Op Game That Died Before it LivedTally Callahan

It was recently leaked that Square Enix's LA studio was (keyword: was) working on a co-op shooter for PSN and XBLA called Project Dropship. It was never publically announced and has sadly been cancelled. It's really a shame because it's reported that the game was being built with co-op play as a central foundation to the mechanics. We even have some videos of the game in action for those of you who are curious about this game that will likely never be finished and released.

Realm of the Mad God Offers MMO Co-Op Shooting on Your BrowserAndrew Gaskill

If the retro nature of the above photo doesn't send you screaming from your computer, I've got a little co-op game for you.  Realm of the Mad God is a new MMO co-op bullet hell shooter.  What the heck is that?  Why it's exactly what it sounds like.  It's a new HTML5-based browser game that plays like a shooter and has RPG elements.  I actually did some strait up research and played the game for a spell.  Looks like it has the potential to be a real time waster.  Realm of the Mad God is free to play, but of course there is the option to spend real money on it.  You can complete the game without spending a cent.  All the information you could want is right here

The game is quite fun and simple to play.  My first real loot drop hooked me, but don't take my word for it.  You can hop into a game and play right now, no registration required.  Just click "Play" when you get there.  Other players can't hurt you, so there's no fear of griefing.  Helpful hint: Press "Enter," then type your message, then "Enter" again to chat.  That may be common sense to some people, but some of us (myself included) are not familiar with PC gaming.  Once you play through the initial stage you'll end up on a beach with up to 85 other people.  You can warp to other players by clicking on them in the lower right box.  If you want to check out more features of the game, read on.

The Dead Horde Makes its Presence KnownJim McLaughlin

DnS Development announced a top-down shooter this week - for now, it's being published for PC only, but the team says that they'd like the opportunity to bring the arcade survival game to consoles as well.

Dead Horde seems to play as simple as the title suggests: kill to survive. Weapons will be progressively upgradeable, and enemies will grow in strength and cunning as you defeat waves in succession. You and your co-op friends will be faced with zombies the likes of which have been replicated over and over (and over) again since genre breakout Left 4 Dead. "Familiarity breeds contemp", as the old saying goes, and DnS is counting on it; take your fight to the undead sometime later this year. In the meantime, check out the screenshots below.

Sin and Punishment: Star Successor Brings Bunches of Bullets to WiiMarc Allie

Sin and Punishment was one of the most successful shooters on the Nintendo 64, though it never made it to American shores until it hit the Virtual Console in 2007.  A sequel to the game was released in Japan last fall, and this time, there's no 7 year delay before we can enjoy Treasure's shooter here in the USA.  Next week, in fact, Sin and Punishment: Star Successor hits retail shelves.  We've got an impressive video showing off the intricate gameplay as well as a gallery of screenshots.  Shooter fans will be able to partner up throughout the game, and from the looks of it, they'll need the help to avoid the onslaught of bullets.

This Week in Co-Op: The Red StarJason Love

Добро пожаловать (Welcome), comrades!  As Jim highlighted in last week’s “This Week in Co-Op,” sometimes a great co-op experience can be found lurking in the catalog of last gen’s titles.  So this past weekend I dusted off my copy of one such co-op title that was overlooked when it was released, The Red Star, and decided to give it a run through.  With my partner in tow, we stepped into an alternate Russia where two soldiers seek to put an end to a corrupt government being lead by a mystical, and evil, sorcerer known as Troika.

Creepiness Abounds in Dead Space Extraction Gameplay FootageMarc Allie

Dead Space Extraction has us intrigued.  First of all, the previous Dead Space game was fairly well received, though unfortunately it was single player only.  Secondly, the announcement of the game was a bit unclear.  Was it a straight port of the previous game?  Could the graphics capabilities of the Wii keep up?  Finally, Dead Space Extraction was revealed as a two person co-op "on the rails" style shooter.  This announcement caused some controversy, and many lost faith that Extraction would live up to the quality level of the first game.

To us here at Co-Optimus, co-op can cover up many ills, and we expect the experience of prowling around in a dark spaceship corridor, being hunted by horrific alien life forms, with a friend at your side, will be quite enjoyable.  And judging from an IGN video, which we have available for your viewing convenience after the break, the game looks suitably awesome.  Bits and pieces of actual gameplay footage are interspersed with a producer interview.  Check it out, and let us know what you think!

I covered Wii Shooters a few weeks back for Co-Op Casual FridayNerf N-Strike was clearly the cream of the crop as far as I am concerned.  I thought it was worth taking another look at it for a Co-Op Review.  We'll take a look at each of the multiplayer modes in the game, separating the co-op cream from the rest.
