South Park Let's Go Tower Defense Play! Brings Co-Op Snow Ball SlingingOctober 08th, 2009 at 8:20 AM by Nicholas "bapenguin" Puleo

Microsoft and the creators of South Park have had a pretty solid relationship.  We've seen a ton of content on the Xbox Live Video Marketplace, some for free, for quite some time.  Now a new game published by Microsoft and developed by Doublesix has hit Xbox Live Arcade.

South Park Let's Go Tower Defense Play! brings the tower defense genre to the town of South Park, complete with four player co-op play.  You'll be defending various turf from the Ginger kids while controlling one of the four South Park characters by placing baseball pitching machines and other structures around.  You can also throw snowballs as an extra line of defense.

Pixel Junk Monsters ReviewJanuary 25th, 2008 at 8:19 AM by Nicholas "bapenguin" Puleo

Eurogamer has a review up of Pixel Junk Monsters for the Playstation Network.  The game is a bit like Tower Defense, which is a popular PC Flash game.

Pixel Junk Monsters features a two player Co-Op mode in which players join forces to defend themselves from a constant onslaught of enemies.

One of the unexpected charms of the game is the two-player co-op mode, where both of you have your own currency to spend as you see fit, but can share gems/research. If anything, the game works even better as a multiplayer game, with one of you stationed near the entrance point, and the other keeping guard near the base. Played solo, you're often caught out by your inability to reach parts of the map quick enough, so although you could argue that the game's slightly more challenging solo, it's also less frustrating in co-op, so you takes your choices. The added competitive edge of each having your own score is a nice touch, too.
