This week in Indie-Ana Co-Op we protect the sherbet farms of the galaxy (from whence did you think sherbet came?) from those that wish to take it all for themselves. You know, like space hippies and space squids.
This week in Indie-Ana Co-Op we satisfy our loot-whoring cravings with an Xbox Live Indie Game that provides some enjoyable hack n' slash action in Mega Monster Mania.
The first trailer is here for the XNA game I've been working on under the studio name, Brain Shape Games. While our previous trailer of Blue Shield Alliance gave a glimpse into the story, our latest trailer from our pre-alpha version will give you a glimpse into the gameplay of this twin-stick shooter for Xbox Live Indie Games and PC.
It was one month ago today that I revealed my latest project, SCHAR: Blue Shield Alliance. The four player co-op Xbox Live Indie and PC game has been a passion of mine and the small team working on it for the past 5 months. We've been trying to update the official website with content a few times a week, but this week we have some truly special stuff I didn't want you fine folks to miss out on.
When I fired up my 360 this morning I noticed there was a new dashboard update. After a quick jump to Major Nelson's blog, apparently this was to fix some color issues as well as add performance improvements. But Major Nelson is a damn, diry liar. It also changed up the game marketplace, something we've seen complained about before.
Continuing our column swap-up this month, Tally takes over for Jason in this edition of Indie-ana Co-Op. This time, we play All Your Creeps on XBLIG.
It's Valentine's Day this week and that means the perfect opportunity for some couples gaming. The folks at Misfits Attic have launched a pre-order promotion to celebrate such an occasion for their four player co-op puzzler, A Virus Named TOM. Basically you can pre-order the game for 50% off, a lowly $5, and if they reach a total of 50 pre-orders, every pre-order will get a bonus copy of the game for free! Also included is beta access and a high score contest.
Today I'm very happy to announce a brand new Xbox Live Indie and PC game. The game is called SCHAR: Blue Shield Alliance and it's being developed by a new studio named Brain Shape Games. Who are Brain Shape? It's a studio founded by two childhood friends, one of which...is me.
Nathan Fouts of Mommy's Best Games, makers of Explosionade and Shoot 1UP, is a bit disgruntled with Microsoft. Why you ask? The new dashboard has way too many ads. We concur. But that's not what really makes Nathan mad, no, it's the fact it's almost impossible to find Xbox Live Indie games buried on the marketplace. So what did he do? He turned it into a game...within a game. Enter Game Type.
PC publisher and developer Stardock, famous for publishing games like Sins of a Solar Empire and utilities like Fences have created their first entry on the Xbox console. Instead of a title on Xbox Live Arcade they've decided to go a more comfortable route and publish the game themselves on the Xbox Indie Channel. The game is called ElfSquad7 and it's the perfect co-op action game for the holidays.
It's been a busy fall with hot new releases for the co-op and single player enthusiast alike. During this time, then, it seemed like a good opportunity to do a little look back at some of the great indie titles that are out there to enjoy as well!
