Beyond Co-Op - September 8th through September 14th, 2013

Cortana on your phone

Welcome to Beyond Co-Op, the weekly piece where we look at interesting stories around the gaming industry that may or may not be directly related to cooperative gaming. It's been a pretty quiet week in the game industry, though the Tokyo Games Show starts this upcoming week. ]

Here's what we've rounded up for you.

A New Riddick Game is in the Works Call of Duty: Ghosts Single Player Trailer Microsoft Working on a Siri Like Companion called Cortana

A New Riddick Game is in the Works

Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay was one of the finest games from LAST generation. It tied in with the franchise nicely and was developed by Starbreeze (who put out the recent excellent PAYDAY 2). There's a new Riddick game on the horizon, but sadly it doesn't look like Starbreeze is going to be involved. Vin Diesel's Tigon Studios is still involved, but it's unclear who is actually doing the work on the game.

Call of Duty Ghosts: Single Player Trailer

I...yeah. In some ways this trailer reminds me of a B movie, in others it looks like something Michael Bay would direct. Whatever your thoughts are on the story of Call of Duty: Ghosts, this trailer should be seen.

Microsoft Working on a Siri Like Companion called Cortana

Windows Phone 8 users may be treated to an incredibly cool function soon. Microsoft is developing a Siri like personal assistant for the device and it's being codenamed "Cortana." Yes the famous AI from the Halo series may become a reality. It's unclear just how much Microsoft plans on tying in the AI construct and franchise, or if it's just a codename for a cool feature. Our hopes of telling our phones to wake us up in the morning to Jenn Taylor saying - "Wake Up Chief" are incredibly high. Make it so Microsoft, make it so.
