Dark Souls 2 PC Support Thread for Major Issues

The game's supposed to be hard, but maybe not THAT hard

Dark Souls 2 arrived on PC last night (you could likely hear the tortured screams of Nick and myself) a little ahead of its original release date of today. While the game is known for its difficulty, there are a few challenges that have come up for players that aren't intended. Like the game not starting at all. Fortunately, there's a support thread to help out.

If you're excited about diving into the world of Drangleic but you're having a couple of issues getting started in that, then you're not alone. Published Namco Bandai has started an official Steam community thread collecting a lot of the issues experienced thus far and current workarounds/fixes. Here are a few of the common ones:

Game crashes upon start-up

- We are currently investigating and escalating this issue. Some possible work-arounds can be found here: (http://steamcommunity.com/app/236430/discussions/0/558754259683457381/)

Dark Souls II does not recognize or take input from my controller

- If you are experiencing this problem, try the following: "Open up Device Manager and under Human Interface Devices, right click and disable all HID-compliant game controllers, and if you have a G13 disable the Logitch G13 Joystick. Restart the game and it should work. You may also need to disable any virtual HID-compliant game controllers as well."

No game launch will be perfect and it's good that Namco Bandai is being active in addressing these issues early, even if they're only workarounds/partial fixes for now. So if you're having any issues, be sure to check the thread to see if there's a fix. If it's a new issue, join in the conversation and join in the "jolly cooperation" of bug reporting!
