A Different Kind of Co-Op in Suikoden: Tierkreis

Suikoden: Tierkreis for the Nintendo DS is an upcoming RPG title from Konami.  Fans of the Suikoden series will feel right at home in the latest title which takes place in a parellel universe of the previous titles.

One interesting aspect of the game is it's multiplayer mode.  While there's no direct multiplayer component, the game does offer this sort of pseudo-cooperative mode.  The way the mode works is by having players sending their characters to other player's games via a wi-fi connection.  The co-op aspect is, as the receiving player uses your character and gains experience and levels him up - they can then return him or her to your world with all gained items and attributes.  Pretty sweet eh?

Additionally the game promises certain unique items are only gained by using this wi-fi mode, as well as only certain boss battles being available in wi-fi.

While this may not be a traditional cooperative gameplay scenario, it is to some degree, a form of co-op gaming.  Suikoden: Tierkreis will be released on March 17th for the Nintendo DS for $34.99.
