Rock Band: Beatles to Include Unreleased Tracks

George Harrison’s son announced this week that the upcoming Rock Band: Beatles will include unreleased tracks that have not been heard yet. He didn’t expand upon this news. I’m not the biggest Beatles person out there, but wasn’t the Anthology CD releases all of the tracks from the Beatles, including demo recordings and all that? Hopefully we’ll learn more as September 9th approaches.

In-Game Chat: The Nolan North Episode

I don’t try to outwardly pimp the Colony of Gamers site (outside of source links) or other websites tied to the network outside of Co-Optimus. Since this was a rather quiet news week, I figured why not point out a fantastic podcast done by the group at In-Game Chat, the official podcast of Colony of Gamers. In this episode, Scott Benton (Psykoboy2) was aggressive enough to get Nolan North, the voice actor for such gaming characters as Nathan Drake and the Prince in the new Prince of Persia game, to come on the show. What I don’t think Scott was expecting was for Nolan to basically take over the podcast and talk about a variety of things. It’s a really excellent episode, right up there with their interview of David Hayter back in the days before In-Game Chat was rechristened.

Lord of the Rings License Goes Back to Warner Brothers

Rather big news because the license made Electronic Arts a lot of money. The licensing agreement between EA and WB ended at the beginning of the year and with WB now very much into producing games they obviously didn’t renew the agreement. The sad part is that the last game from EA was the stinkfest Lord of the Rings: Conquest, but then again maybe EA was attempting one more money grab before the license ran out.

Strong Handheld Gaming Lineup This Week

So, last week was Resident Evil 5 and Mad World on the 360/PS3 and Wii respectively. This week we see a plethora of handheld games coming with a heavy emphasis on DS games. On the PSP front Resistance: Retribution comes out not 3 months after Resistance 2 came out on the PS3. On the DS side there is a lot of games: Valkyrie Profile: Covenant of the Plume, Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars, Suikoden Tierkreis, Henry Hatsworth in the Puzzling Adventure and Final Fantasy Chronicles: Echoes of Time. Along with that there is one lone console release in Ready 2 Rumble: Revolution on the Wii.

Resident Evil 5 Versus Premium DLC Announced

Capcom announced right before Resident Evil 5 came out that there is a Premium DLC coming in the form of a versus mode. There will be two game types for up to 4 players. One is a simple gauntlet type of gameplay while the other is standard deathmatch. You can play either mode singly or two against two. It sounds rather cool and the price will be 400 Microsoft Points or $5 on PSN. Capcom gave a nebulous “a few weeks after Resident Evil 5’s release as the drop time.
