If you asked me about my most-anticipated shoot 'em up(s) at the beginning of the year, I'd have answered "the Raiden Fighters Remix Collection from MOSS and H2 Interactive." But when the 3-game collection arrived at the end of February, fans like me were dismayed to discover that it suffered from problems like a too-high frame rate and a scarcity of visual options. Thankfully, MOSS has acknowledged fan feedback and is working on a fix to implement the proper frame rate.
The problem stems from the original arcade developers' odd choice to have Raiden Fighters and its two sequels run at 54 FPS instead of the standard 60 FPS. The beloved Xbox 360 collection, Raiden Fighters Aces, reproduced the games at their original frame rates. Unfortunately, the new PlayStation and Switch versions run at 60 FPS. Making the games faster changes their feel and also increases the difficulty for players. Perhaps some players might prefer faster gameplay, but the original frame rate should at least be an option.
On Twitter, MOSS issued the following statement earlier this month:
"We have received numerous reports that in "RAIDEN FIGHTERS REMIX COLLECTION," released on February 26, 2026, the frame rate during gameplay differs from that of the original arcade version, impairing the intended gameplay experience. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused to all customers who purchased the product.
We are currently preparing an update, so please kindly wait a little while. We will announce the schedule as soon as it is finalized. For details, which would be lengthy, please refer to the guidance on our official page. See the link below."
It's good that the frame rate will be fixed, but MOSS hasn't committed to other improvements just yet. Let's hope that they throw in a few enhancements to get the collection up to par with its Xbox 360 predecessor. Oh, and Xbox and Steam ports would be much appreciated as well! All three games on the collection support 2-player local co-op. When the collection's frame rate gets fixed, we'll be back with a full co-op review.
