Dotemu's Absolum broke all kinds of sales records when it debuted on PlayStation, Switch, and Steam last year. The developers even promised a big Version 1.1 update which came along in February of this year. All the while, Xbox gamers had no choice but to look on from the outside and long for the coveted Absolum beat 'em up roguelike experience. It wasn't easy, I can tell you. Thankfully, those long months of yearning are finally behind us. Absolum came out on Xbox Series consoles today, and it's even on Game Pass. It's time to get absolumming, boys and girls!
The recent Version 1.1 update added the following improvements:
All-new Mystic Ordeal challenges - Rebels can now work with Maugis to add new modifiers to your run. Change how the fight goes, and go up against various pre-set ordeals such as Boss Run, Horde Mode, Multiplayer Trials, and more! Too easy? We know our Rebels like a challenge. If that sounds too easy, you can also create your own Mystic Ordeals and share these with friends and the wider rebellion! A twist in the tale with Corrupted Biomes - We’ve upgraded the Rifts system to deliver Corrupted Biomes, random areas which will be visible at the start of each run. Attack them to upgrade your challenge and attain improved rewards, or avoid them and stick to the safety of the known. New ways to colour your adventure - with new skins and emote options for each of our four Rebel Heroes Upgraded mounts - bringing new, improved abilities and harder-hitting punishment against the hordes of the Crimson OrderSee the patch notes for more details. All of these enhancements are included by default in the Xbox version of the game.
What about the co-op? Why, Absolum supports 2-player local and online co-op. Cross-play is not currently supported, though the Xbox console and Xbox PC versions can play together.
Absolum costs $24.99 on Xbox Series, PlayStation, Switch, and Steam. At present, the Xbox version is included with Xbox Premium and Xbox Game Pass, so be sure to give the game a go!
