I'm not big on building decks, whether the decks are made of cards or planks of wood in the back yard. Thus, a deck-builder needs to be pretty unusual to peak my interest. Duo Quest from 1 plus 1 Studios and Rising Tide is just such a game. It's 2-player only (local or online), and the cards that players draw require them to ask questions about each other. Answer correctly to damage foes; fail, and the team's adventure might come to a premature end. The quest begins on Steam on September 16.
Official description:Your bond is your greatest weapon! Duo Quest blends strategic deck building with deep conversational social gameplay to create the perfect co-op game for you to play with a friend or partner.
Duo Quest puts you in the shoes of two adventurers set on a quest to defeat the fearsome Demon King who has laid waste to the lands with his evil invention - The Bondbreaker. As the Kingdom’s last hope, you must learn to wield the Duo Energy - a weapon whose strength is tied to its user's bond.
With many monsters to fight, and hundreds of questions to test your relationship with, Duo Quest was made solely for co-op, where gamers and non-gamers can play together through an immersive and quirky 8-bit fantasy world.
The combination of social card game and roguelike fantasy RPG sure sounds fun, don't you think? I knew you'd answer yes! I win. Anyway, co-op-only games sure seem to be a thing now. BOMBANANA! just came out on Steam, and that one takes three players to work. Duo Quest should be a little easier to play since it only needs two players to make the magic happen.
Duo Quest will launch on Steam on Wednesday, September 16. There's a free demo right now, so be sure to grab a friend and give it a try!
