Digital Distributors Refuse to Sell Modern Warfare 2

Infinity Ward and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2’s problems continue this week with Direct2Drive, Impulse and GamersGate all deciding to not sell the game on their digital download product. The reason? The game is tied to Steamworks, Valve’s proprietary software used on some Steam releases. Steamworks requires you to install Steam onto your computer and obviously these companies don’t want to see that on their customer’s machines.

I doubt the PC release is going to sell as much as it has in the past with the myriad of problems including no dedicated server support and the news that online will be capped at 9 vs. 9 instead of the 32 vs. 32 that was allowed in the last Infinity Ward game.

Left 4 Dead 2 Up to 4x Pre-Orders Than Original

Guess that now dead petition and people whining about how they feel this is an expansion pack instead of a full game didn’t do much on the pre-order front for Left 4 Dead 2. Pre-orders for the new game are now at 4x the size the original had at the same time before release. The game releases in a little over a week and I’m sure many Co-Optimus readers will be playing it.

PS3 Netflix Discs Start Shipping

That was quick. Although given a nebulous release date of before the end of the year, the Netflix PS3 discs have started shipping out from the company. This is the only way you will be able to stream watchable videos from Netflix on your PS3. There will hopefully be a non-disc alternative down the line, but for the moment this is the only way to enjoy Netflix benefits if you have a PS3.

Atlus Replacing Defective Demon's Souls Strategy Guides

In a cool move for an extremely difficult game, Atlus has announced they will replace the Demon’s Souls strategy guide that people have been buying. Evidently the ink on the cover rubs right off and Atlus is doing the nice thing and replacing the guide for everyone. Anyone out there enjoying this game? I haven’t picked it up as of yet, but I hear it is very difficult.

Some Game Called Modern Warfare 2 Highlights Week's Releases

We move into the first of two successive busy release weeks before Thanksgiving and Black Friday come upon us. This week is pretty much dominated by Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. Companies are being smart and not releasing anything major alongside it since this game will probably sell the most copies of any game this year. There are the new Dragon Ball games coming out this week, but I highly doubt they will make a dent when compared to the 800 pound gorilla.

Next week is where there will be some interesting battles.
