Beyond Co-Op, November 29th to December 5th

The stories for this week:

- Mass Effect 2 to Ship With 2 Discs
- The Saboteur Ships With Nude Code
- Medal of Honor Announced, Going to Afghanistan
- Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands Announced
- Two Assassin's Creed II DLCs Coming in January/February
- Zelda: Spirit Tracks and The Saboteur Highlight Releases This Week

Mass Effect 2 to Ship With 2 Discs

Not a huge surprise here and BioWare promises that the disc change on the 360 is at a logical spot and will not require the swapping of discs back and forth at any time. Obviously the PC version can be installed and only the play disc needs to be in the drive to launch the game. Of course Sony could come out and say, “Well, we could put the game on one disc, but we get no Mass Effect love.”

Mass Effect 2 comes out on January 26, 2010 in North America.

The Saboteur Ships With Nude Code

When The Saboteur, Pandemic’s swan song, comes out this week it will have a DLC code inside that will allow you to see nudity in the game. This of course is an incentive for people like the DLC that comes with copies of Dragon Age: Origins. If you happen to pick up the game used down the line you’ll have to pay $5 for your digital nudity. It’s a nice cash grab down the line, but it is questionable why this wasn’t just an option in the game to begin with.

Medal of Honor Announced, Going to Afghanistan

EA is prepared to take on Activision in the military shooter genre. We all knew there was a Medal of Honor game coming up and EA finally announced it. Much like Modern Warfare, the series is moving into modern day and based in Afghanistan. The interesting thing here is that EA LA will be developing the single-player side of the game while DICE will be working on the multiplayer side. EA hopes to use the dual shot of this and Battlefield: Bad Company 2 to take the upper hand versus Activision. Should be interesting, I think EA has certainly put the right people on at least the multiplayer side. I’m not sure about EA LA, although they have picked up a lot of people from closed studios in the company. Wonder if Infinity Ward is laughing at this because they were the ones that made Medal of Honor popular back in the day as 2015.

Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands Announced

No huge surprise here given how popular the game series has been. What is surprising is that this is a sequel in the Sands of Time series and not a sequel to the controversial game from last year (which I liked quite a bit). It is coming out in May in conjunction with the release of the movie, so it could be somewhat of a cash grab on the movie tie-in although I don’t believe the game will follow the story from the movie. All but the second game was well liked in the Sands of Time series, so hopefully they’ll make a good game here.

Two Assassin's Creed II DLCs Coming in January/February

I had a feeling as I completed Assassin’s Creed II (my review at Colony of Gamers) that there would be DLC upcoming. Ubisoft had not forwarded any word of DLC upcoming at any point before release. However there are a couple missing chapters in the story and it is sounding like these two DLCs will in fact be those chapters. One is called “Fight at Forli” and the other is “Bonfire of the Vanities”. Now, sit down because I have something shocking to tell you. Ubisoft is asking that you set aside 1GB of space for each of the DLCs. That’s rather large and I wonder how much they are going to sell them for. News on the first DLC will be upcoming later this month and in January the details of the other will be released. Pretty excited for these considering how good this game is.

Zelda: Spirit Tracks and The Saboteur Highlight Releases This Week

One huge game in Zelda: Spirit Tracks on the DS and one interesting game in The Saboteur highlight the releases this week. Not much more to say about the releases because it is a relatively weak release week. I’m sure a lot will pick up Zelda, but I think I’ll put it on my Christmas list.
