New Aliens Colonial Marines Dev Diary Focuses on Xenomorphs and Weapons

When we last saw the Gearbox team heading up Aliens: Colonial Marines, they were giving their best Blue Steel impressions as their names flashed onscreen to uneasy pulses of a motion tracker. (I'm totally jealous. Whenever I hear strange noises and see words buzzing by my head I'm supposed to lay down for a few hours.) Well, the gang is back, and they've got more info on their canonical sequel to the Aliens film.

For this edition of the Machinima "Inside Gaming" series they're talking about the Xenomorphs as well as all the swell weaponry the Colonial Marines will bring to the fight. Pharyngeal jaws and smart guns for everyone! Check out the video. Oh, and that last link was to a goblin shark. Yeah, those are real. I-I don't swim anymore

If you watch the video closely (1:08) it appears that we will NOT be able to kill your co-op buddies with friendly fire. This is a good thing, since we will all most likely be screaming like little children as we shoot blindly into shadows. Please folks, practice safe co-op. Either:  A) Turn off friendly fire or B) don't shoot your partners in the back of the head. I usually choose option A, because I'm really bad at option B.

If you want more hot Aliens: Colonial Marines action be sure to check out our hands-on preview from E3. Here's a hint: Mike and I quite enjoyed it. If you want more insight into the inner workings of Gearbox (and who doesn't?) watch our awesome video interview with studio CEO/President Randy Pitchford. If you need even more Xenomorph love, I don't know... rent Aliens or go watch Prometheus or something.

Aliens: Colonial Marines will support four player online co-op and two player local co-op. It drops on February 12th for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC.
