Beyond Co-Op - November 18th through 24th, 2012

Post Turkey Day slowdown.

Welcome to Beyond Co-Op, the weekend column that rounds up some of the interesting stories from the week outside of the co-op sphere of interest.  With a holiday in the US this week the news is pretty light, but there are a few interesting things worth checking out.

- iPad Tops Holiday Wish Lists
- Doublefine Uses Humble Bundle to Bring Folks into Development Process
- Peter Molyneux Kickstarting a Populous Spiritual Successor

 iPad Tops Holiday Wish Lists

Well well well.  It seems the Wii U isn't the most popular gaming console this holiday, instead the device on most children's wish lists to Santa is actually Apple's iPad.  This is for children ages 6-12, so it's a demographic that's traditionally been skewed towards Nintendo.  Damn spoiled kids - and iPad?  Get a job already.

Doublefine Uses Humble Bundle to Bring Folks into Development Process

Doublefine broke the Kickstarter mold ushering in a viable channel for getting your game created with it's Adventure Game #1 which is currently in development and raised a few million dollars.  Now they are doing something different.  They are asking folks to vote on concept videos presented by DoubleFine employees for possible games.  The top four games will get fully featured prototypes with the development process livestreamed.  But why Humble Bundle?  You are actually able to purchase the prototypes and past prototypes like Costume Quest.

Peter Molyneux Kickstarting a Populous Spiritual Successor

Peter Molyneux has created some of the most beloved franchises in PC gaming, sadly most of them are owned now by other companies.  Luckily for you - he's taking matter into his own hands with "Project Godus" - a remake of his popular Populous franchise.  He's looking to raise about $700,000 for an iOS, Android and PC version of the game which should take around 9 months to a year to complete.
