Beyond Co-Op, February 22nd to February 28th

The stories for this week:

- Sam and Max Coming to XBLA and Retail

- Lost Planet 2 Unveiled

- Busy Week of Games

- LittleBigPlanet and Motorstorm going PSP

- Punch Out!! Wii out May 18th

Sam and Max Coming to XBLA and Retail

Put this in the fantastic news category. Currently only available via episodic download or WiiWare, it looks like the two seasons are going to be coming out on XBLA and retail for the PC and Wii. The two seasons have been renamed Sam and Max Save the World and Sam and Max Beyond Time and Space. No word on release or price, but Telltale did say Sam and Max Save the World is “coming soon”. I highly recommend these games simply because they are ones in the ever dying adventure point-and-click genre of games and the dialogue is hilarious. Yes, there are other adventure game lines out there like Sherlock Holmes and Nancy Drew from the Adventure Company, but back in the 90s games like Sam and Max Hit the Road and its genre ilk ruled the roost.

Lost Planet 2 Unveiled

In other fantastic news, Capcom announced Lost Planet 2 as the secret announcement ad that showed up on Xbox Live last week. Even better news is that there will be 4-player co-op through the campaign. Capcom also said this wasn’t a slipshod sequel. I enjoyed the first game quite a bit even though it had its problems here and there. So far the screenshots look nice, but then again they could be bullshots, you never know.

Busy Week of Games

Lots of interesting games this week: Halo Wars on 360; MLB 09: The Show on PS3, PSP and PS2; MLB 2K9 on 360, PS3 and Handhelds; as well as Tom Clancy’s H.A.W.X. on 360 and PS3. The first and last games are of course interesting to the Co-Optimus readers with co-op on each game. However, I do want to warn those baseball gamers out there that you will want to pick up MLB 09: The Show. It was fantastic last year and I doubt they will drop the ball this year. MLB 2K9 on the other hand…well, there are already franchise problems that 2K has said will be patched on release day. Last year’s game sucked bad and I have little hope with the new one.

LittleBigPlanet and Motorstorm going PSP

No big surprise here honestly, but it does deserve mention. Why? Well, the PSP sees very little in the way of gaming. I mean, I own one but I rarely play it because there are really no games to hold my interest. There are certainly some top notch games out there, but they are spread out so much the PSP collects dust. The system sells pretty well, I’m just wondering what people are playing.

Punch Out!! Wii out May 18th

Yes! I have no idea what the game will be like, but Nintendo has done no wrong on any of their Punch Out!! games before. Now the bigger question is when is WiiMotion Plus coming out and if it will be packed in with the game. This could be a huge game for the Wii and a good “core” game for those of us looking for such a thing in the Wii lineup. Can’t wait, how about you?
