Some big ideas here that hopefully pain out

Neocore Games has shifted from the fantastic gothic setting of The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing for the grim-dark sci-fi setting of Warhammer 40k with Warhammer 40,000: Inquisitor - Martyr. This game will be an action-RPG like their previous series, but they've got some bigger goals for this one, as their latest video explains.

A consistent theme throughout 40k's lore is the constant warring waged by the various factions for control of star systems, one planet at a time. Necocore is trying to bring some of that idea into the "open world sandbox" that is the Caligari Sector of WH40k: Inquisitor - Martyr. Players will initially be given access to one subsector of Caligari where they will be able to pursue randomly generated missions in order to influence the corruption level of that subsector. Some of these missions may lead you to other quests to provide a kind of mini-campaign experience. These missions are cooperative as opposed to the preset single-player campaign. Neocore also plans on setting up "seasons" within the game that are free and task players with pursuing certain goals.

It all sounds very interesting and I would love to see a Warhammer 40k game incorporate some of that notion of planets/sectors falling under the influence of different factions. Hopefully, things pan out as Neocore says.

Warhammer 40,000: Inquisitor - Martyr is still under development and has no release date as of yet. It will support four player online co-op in the "Inquisitorial Campaign" (the open world sandbox described in the video), and will be released for the PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
