Hot 'Collection 2' DLC Details Hitting Modern Warfare 3 This May

Infinity Ward and Sledgehammer have released details for the next Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 DLC pack, “Collection 2”. If you haven’t already received a message regarding some new achievements that were added to the game, which are currently unobtainable, then listen here and find out what you’re trigger finger will be in store for this May.

Throughout the rest of this month, two new content updates will be arriving for Xbox 360 users. The first update will be absolutely free, arriving on May 15th, which will include 2 brand new multiplayer maps, “Erosion” and “Aground”, designed solely for the “Face Off” gametype. Don’t like the massive multiplayer matches in a traditional Call of Duty game? This is where “Face Off” mode comes in. The mode will feature a much smaller and scaled down version of multiplayer juggernaut we all love, only with closer environments aimed to benefit the ever popular 1 vs. 1 and 2 vs. 2 player matches.

Erosion

Make your way through Mediterranean ruins and ancient aqueducts, using leftover Roman masonry for thousand-year-old cover in this new "Face Off" map.

Aground

Head to Scotland's Orkney Islands for the latest "Face Off" map, where treacherous cliff faces, networks of caves and the rusted and ruined remains of a grounded transport ship provide for constant combat.

Following these first two maps, the second content update will include even more batttlefields for "Face Off" mode. Arriving on May 22nd, two new maps, “Gateway”, a beach side Brazilian mansion, and “Lookout”, an observation post in “Afghanistan” will complete the new “Face Off” oriented maps and be available for the “Collection 2” DLC. Two other maps that have already been released to Call of Duty: Elite subscribers, “Sanctuary” and “Foundation”, along with a new map called “Oasis”, will be included and more geared towards the multiplayer aspect (if “Face Off” mode isn’t to your cup of tea).

On a more co-op side of things, two new Special Ops missions will also be included with the DLC,
“Iron Clad” and “Killswitch”, giving FPS co-op players and avid achievement hunters something worth looking forward to:

Iron Clad

With one player helming a tank and the other escorting it on foot, you’ll clear beaches and take cover in plane wreckage as you escape Hamburg from behind enemy lines in this all-new Special Ops Mission.

Killswitch

Armed with an Electromagnetic Pulse, your sniper team must neutralize a Russian carrier in this Special Ops Mission where only a bird’s eye view can keep your team in command as you breach the ship from underwater.

Although no price for the “Collection 2” DLC has been announced yet, we’d expect it to be the same as the previous “Collection” DLC, going for 1200 Microsoft Points.
