Injustice 2 PC Review

I spent a ridiculous amount of time with the PC version of Injustice, and when the console version of Injustice 2 launched with a PC port in sight, my heart sank. Thankfully it was worth the 6 months wait as gamers get to experience the NetherRealm title with 4K support, extra characters, and plenty of bells and whistles that make this the smoothest fighting game on PC from the Mortal Kombat studio to date.

Injustice 2 builds on the formula from the first game and expands the roster to 36 fighters and adds a brand new gameplay mode to ensure replayability for solo players. The game does sport a comic book inspired story mode that’ll take you through a few dozen of the character’s perspectives as Batman and Superman are once again pitted against each other following the events of the first game. It’s a mildly entertaining romp that’ll only take you a few hours to complete.

But it’s randomized Multiverse mode that’s the standout here allowing you to complete various challenges for unlocks against DC standards, alternates (like Red Son version of Superman), and even characters from the Mortal Kombat universe. As you progress through daily challenges you’ll earn customization and equipment for your characters that actually alters their abilities as much as their appearance.

The core fighting aspect of the game is still extremely satisfying, the game runs at a buttery smooth 60FPS and supports a wide variety of controllers including gamepads and arcade sticks. While the game doesn’t feature “fatalities” it does have super moves that trigger a mini cutscene and deal massive damage to opponents. With 36 characters to choose from, there’s a good variety of entertaining little scenes here.

All in all Injustice 2 is a great fighter, and the PC port seems incredibly solid. Of course there’s online play available if you really want to test yourself, and from the few matches I played it ran just fine. If you’re a DC comic fan and love fighting games, there really isn’t a reason to not snag this title.
