It's like, so fierce.

Our Weekend In Gaming: The Fiercest Light

Well, what do you know?  Destiny 2 appears to be back on the Co-Opticrew's weekend menu, and it's all thanks to "Forsaken", the game's latest expansion.  It feels like just yesterday that we collectively emerged from the dark recesses surrounding Destiny 2's original release, so I'm not quite ready to delve back in.  That said, depending on how long Jason, Mike, and Nick spend in there, we may have to form up a search party...

Our Weekend In Gaming: Mining Crew

Can you believe another week's done and dusted?  It feels like it was just yesterday that Jason was yelling at the Co-Opticrew to finish our morning serving of porridge and crowd back into the co-op mines.  "Ah well," I remember telling Marc on the way down, "at least we got that extra day to let the cartridge dust work its way out of our lungs."  We shared a somber smile then, knowing the darkness of the mines would soon shroud our faces beyond recognition.  My, how time does seem to slip away...

Our Weekend In Gaming: Peculiar Platoon

My, my!  It looks like an extended weekend is in the Co-Opticrew's immediate future, and you just know we're gonna get a little gaming in to celebrate.  The Fall Deluge hasn't struck in full force yet, so outside of the brand new Bizarre Battalion, we're mostly still working through our backlogs.  That's probably for the best, as things will be getting real hectic around here before too long.

The "Z" means we don't play by the rulez.

Our Weekend In Gaming: Extreme Gamerz Only

Once again, the Co-Opticrew has managed to come up with an almost entirely diverse range of weekend plans.  It's like they get together beforehand and do this just to make it harder for me to come up with a title.  Well nice try, jerks.  I've got all kinds of titles up my sleeves, and you'd have to do this kind of thing at least two more times before I've exhausted all the good ones.

Our Weekend In Gaming: Tactical Cookware

I'll be honest, gang.  I didn't think we were gonna make it this week, and yet, and yet, here we are.  Another glorious weekend lies just around the corner, and by golly, we're gonna take advantage of it.  We better take advantage of it, anyway.  I'm holding a quiz Monday morning to make sure everyone had a great time, and if not, they're gonna be thrown in, like, Weekend Jail or something equally terrifying.

How the Gen Con Generation is Killing the Video Game Industry

Our Weekend in Gaming: More Like BORED Games, Amiright

The 51st Gen Con kicked off yesterday (not to be confused with "Gin Con," which happens every other weekend at my house), and board game enthusiasts have descended upon Indianapolis like a group of dire rats swarming a party of adventurers. Our very own Enoch Starnes is out there soaking in all that gaming goodness, in fact, so while the bearded man is away, the differently bearded man will play!

We are many. We are one.

Our Weekend In Gaming: Hive Mind

Word has apparently gotten out that No Man's Sky has real, honest-to-gosh co-op, so naturally the Co-Opticrew had to dive in.  Or rather, we will be diving in once the weekend starts.  Hello Games' oft-criticized 2016 release has been undergoing a steady redemption arc over the past couple years, adding in much of the feature set that folks expected to be in it in the first place.  What does this say about the state of game development?  Who knows, but we'll at least find out how much fun it is to explore a procedurally-generated universe with a few friends.

Is it still satire if it rules?

Our Weekend In Gaming: Grimdark - Tales Of Sci-Fi Misery

Moods must be too high around the office, because a couple members of the Co-Opticrew are dipping into the the latest and greatest in Futuristic Misery Simulators.  Part of me hopes that they'll return with tales of honor and glory, but realistically, I know their stories will mostly revolve around dying messily on a forgotten planet for the glory of the Emperor.  We should all be so lucky.

Our Weekend In Gaming: Spoils Of War

The Steam Summer Sale is finally over, taking the war on our financial wellbeing with it.  Most of the Co-Opticrew managed to stave off complete destitution, but we were far from impervious to Steam's Digital Delights.  Luckily, we have a fantastic way to cope with our newfound dearth of cash:  playing (or simply admiring) all our new games!

Our Weekend In Gaming: No Bosses Allowed

Whoooo!  Nick and Jason are too busy to respond to our weekly email, meaning this edition of "Our Weekend in Gaming" is a #BossFreeZone.  Get lost, authorities.  This weekend, we live our lives with no rules and no limits.  I'm gonna go play games I didn't even mention below, just to prove that this fella marches to his own dang drum.  I may even go listen to, like, a punk band or something.  Or at least some folksy protest songs.

Well, somebody's gotta fund Gabe's sword collection.

Our Weekend In Gaming: A Steamy Summer

The Co-Opticrew is getting somewhat hot and bothered by a certain Steam Summer Sale, but not quite as much as you'd expect.  To be honest, our tepid reaction to all those sweet, sweet discounts is likely due to the fact that we've already bought everything we could possibly want (and more, Locke) over the last year or two of sales.  Combine that with the fact that Steam has distanced itself from the fun, creative events of years gone by, and you've got a recipe for a week that will likely pass without a huge amount of celebration.
