It is, however, easy to only see the negatives. So, let's not dwell on them, and instead shine a light on a few beacons of hope this month:

Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes - Beyond Co-op PreviewPaul Acevedo

Hundred Heroes is the product of a successful Kickstarter campaign. While this larger-scale game was in development, a prequel called Eiyuden Chronicle: Rising was released. That one was a 2.5D action RPG, but Hundred Heroes is a fully-fledged traditional JRPG with 3D environments and 2D sprites. The preview build we played is truly gorgeous, reminiscent of Square Enix's Octopath Traveler but with more detailed environments and larger sprites. The style should appeal to fans of classic role-playing games and modern RPG enthusiasts alike.

Our database meanwhile saw an increase of another 161 entries - in part thanks to all the interesting stuff we were able to check out during Steam Next Fest. Now we just hope that it won't take too long for those games to be actually released.

I guess we'll never know the real reason. The low amount of new releases did however give us as bit of breathing room to play a couple of older titles with our friends. And our Database Master(tm) also "only" added 56 new entries to the database. So as always there's a silver lining :) .

In that regard, December was, as expected, a bit on the lighter side in terms of new releases. But that doesn't mean there was nothing of note. Warhammer 40.000: Rogue Trader, for example, seems to be Owlcat's best work, yet. Hopefully, console players won't have to wait much longer for the arrival of the co-op mode. At least Xbox fans can bridge that time with Baldur's Gate III, having seen a surprise release for the platform during this year's Game Awards Show. The Anacrusis, meanwhile, left Early Access at the beginning of the month, and we can confirm that it has significantly improved since we first played it in January 2022. And on the virtual reality front, there came the release of Arizona Sunshine 2, the long-awaited sequel to the awesome co-op zombie shooter from 2016.

Ask a dozen people, and 11 of them will tell you that the PlayStation 5 is not an attractive console. It's huge, awkward, and looks like a humidifier. One cool feature of the console's design, however, is the changeable cover. Replacing the shell in order to customize the console's appearance is surprisingly easy. One affordable re...

So, what are some of the highlights? Well, after six years of quietly toiling away, developer The Behemoth is finally back with both a release of Alien Hominid HD for a new generation of consoles as well as the long-awaited sequel Alien Hominid Invasion. PowerWash Simulator VR, on the other hand, now allows would-be cleaners to dive even deeper into the experience, and Dungeon Keepers got a new fix in form of Dungeons 4. Meanwhile retro fans were able to rejoice over Berzerk: Recharged, the Double Dragon Collection AND the awesome Jurassic Park Classic Games Collection. Of course, we can't forget to also mention the sequel to one of our personal favorites: Risk of Rain Returns.

We'll be playing Trine 5, Conan Exiles, Monaco, The Ascent, and maybe some others. We'd love to have some company while we game all day!

Of course, this wasn't the only highlight in another month packed with new releases. Bang-On Balls: Chronicles, for example, finally left Steam Early Access. Cook, Serve, Delicious! hit the Nintendo Switch, VR-fans rejoiced over Ghostbusters: Rise of the Ghost Lord and the long-awaited sequel to Dungeon of the Endless, innovatively called Endless Dungeon, was released. And while the end of the year draws near, November won't hold back either. So take a look below at what you might've missed, as well as the 174 new entries in our database, and get playin'!

Then on 9/25 he wrote a simple message to our beloved Nick Puleo: "Something went wrong". And something had indeed gone wrong. Our database didn't handle the software upgrade as gracefully as we expected and basically everything stopped working in the backend. No new entries were possible, existing ones couldn't be updated and even writing this news post was out of the question.

Of course, success is short lived in the world of videogames. One week you are on top of the world, the next no one cares about you anymore. And the signs are already on the horizon for Baldur's Gate III. Bethesda's upcoming Starfield may not have co-op (yet - make your bets on how long it takes the modding community to fix that), but we all know that half the globe (slight exaggeration) will jump into the vast Field of a Star in September, ourselves included... with one exception: our Database Master. He has to continue toiling away in the Database Mines to keep our database fresh and up to snuff, after all. Especially now, since it's that time of the year again, with more releases coming out each minute than anyone can feasibly play in a lifetime. For August, this meant the addition of another 149 entries to our ever-growing Behemoth and the crossing of the 13,000 total entries milestone.

In terms of new releases: they were mostly spread out evenly over the whole month and featured the usual mix of high profile titles like Jagged Alliance 3 and Remnant II finally hitting store shelves (that mostly didn't disappoint this time around), re-releases of old classics for new platforms (e.g. Twisted Metal 2 on PS4/PS5) and interesting indie titles like the point 'n click murder mystery adventure Whispers in the West. So take a look below, pick your poison and play away!
