Disney Infinity 2.0 Expands Character Roster

Princess Jasmine from Aladdin is joining the roster this week. She's available both individually and as part of the Aladdin Toy Box Pack (includes Jasmine, Aladdin, and the two power discs Jasmine's Palace View and the Sands of Agrabah). Four Marvel characters were also released: the Villians Loki, Ronan, Green Goblin as well as Guardians of the Galaxy's Yondu.

Stronghold Crusader 2 (PC) - Crusader 2 returns players to the middle east, building strongholds in desert areas and striking down foes in the name of the lord. Crusader 2 features a brand new co-op mode which allows two players to take control of the same side and work together to defeat enemies, another mode is coming in the future allowing players to take on the story missions. We'll have our review later this week. [2 player online/LAN co-op]

Panic Over: The Disney Infinity 2.0 Galaxy Is Guarded

With 4 player online co-op available, Disney Infinity 2 looks like great fun for the family. Not only will you be able to play with characters from the Disney canon, but also from Marvel. Surely it is only a matter of time until we get Lucasart characters as well? This is a pipe dream, but The Guardians of the Galaxy characters are a definite. So far character trailers for both Star Lord and Gamora have been released which highlight some of the combat moves they can perform:

These trailers show off clips of the character's abilities as well as detail which play sets they are compatible with (a nice touch). If you remember, one of our complaints about the first version of the game was how characters were limited to their particular play sets. Disney Infinity 2.0 seems to go a bit towards addressing the issue, by having the potential for characters to be compatible for multiple play sets. So, for example, while it appears that Black Widow is currently only compatible with the Toy Box and the Avengers playset, Iron Man has support for the Toy Box, Avengers play set, Spider-Man play set, and Guardians of the Galaxy play set.

Disney Infinity proved a hit here at Co-Optimus Towers, despite some misgivings. 2.0 looks to build upon this success by introducing new ideas, but also new characters; in particular those owned by Marvel.

Donald Duck Coming to Disney Infinity 2.0

Donald Fauntleroy Duck has been pantsless for over 80 years, which is perhaps why he's still one of our favorite old-school Disney characters. (Or maybe it's because of that Nazi episode? Classic Donald!) His short temper and impossible speech patterns will be making their way to Disney Infinity 2.0 later this year, armed with a broom and a transformation into his Three Musketeers self.

Meet the Guardians of the Galaxy Team in Disney Infinity: Marvel Super Heroes

If you haven't seen the movie this past weekend, I highly recommend you all go and see it (it's shattering August records). What better way to experience the movie that by playing the Guardians within Disney Infinity. As of now, the following Guardians will be making their appearance in the game: Star-Lord, Gamora, Drax, Rocket, and Groot. Additionally, as we previously covered, the villain Ronan will also be available as well (In the second wave of released characters, mainly the villains). All these characters correspond to the Guardians of the Galaxy Play Set, which features the cityscape of Knowhere. Both Star-Lord and Gamora will be included in the Playset, while Drax, Rocket, and Groot will be sold separately as individual figures. While Iron Man (part of the Avengers Playset) and Nova (part of the Spiderman set) aren't technically a part of the Guardians Playset, they will be able to participate in select missions due to their comic connections to the Guardians.

Every hero needs a diabolical villain to contrast his/her character, thus Disney Infinity: Marvel Super Heroes has introduced a group of playable super villain characters to assume and unleash hell: Loki from the Avengers Play Set, Ronan from the Guardians of the Galaxy Play Set, and Green Goblin from the Spiderman Play Set (each character is sold individually).

[E3 2014] - Disney Infinity 2.0: Marvel Super Heroes Is Filling up with Improvements

Obviously it's all about the characters and there's plenty on docket so far, but there are literally dozens more to announce. What do we know? From The Avengers we have Iron Man, Black Widow, Thor, Captain America, Hulk, and Hawkeye. From Ultimate Spider-Man we have Spider-Man, Nova, Iron Fist, Venom and Nick Fury. From Guardians of the Galaxy we have Star-Lord, Gamora, Drax, Groot, and Rocket Racoon. So while the comic side seems pretty heavy so far, the Disney side is still getting some new character treatment with Maleficent, Brave, Peter Pan, Disney Fairies, Lilo and Stich and Donald Duck all slated to be released sometime after the game is available.
