LittleBigPlanet Gets Mass Effect Costumes

Guess what was just released for LittleBigPlanet, LittleBigPlanet 2, LittleBigPlanet Karting and LittleBigPlanet PS Vita? Sony recently rolled out a pack of costumes from Mass Effect (ever heard of it?), which includes skins for Shepard, Liara, Wrex, and Garrus along with a few in-game stickers. Just the sort of thing you needed to remind you that the LBP series still exists!

I think that we can mostly all agree that the leaps-and-bounds improvement for the PS Vita is the addition of a second joystick. Visions of downloadable PlayStation 2 games dance in my head when I sleep. Many of the games and ports targeting the PSP suffered without that second stick. But tilt control? Touch screen? Rear touch pad? Are these just some Sony gimmicks designed to drive up the price, or are they viable gameplay enhancements?

PlayStation Plus Members Will Receive Sackboy's Prehistoric Moves for Free

Little Big Planet's PlayStation Move compatible spin-off, Sackboy's Prehistoric Moves, will be available for free download to PlayStation Plus subscribers. According to Eurogamer.com, the game will be available to Plus users a week before the game's release, which is December 15th. The general feeling among the staff that was while LBP was great, it wasn't the co-op that we loved; it was the amazing creation options, so we left it off the list. Sadly, it would appear that LittleBigPlanet 2 should have been left off for another reason: it's now been moved to a January 2011 release.

You've gotta love Sackboys, but they are an odd mascot for the Playstation 3. While the PS3 resembles an onyx monolith with it's slick surface and shiny edges, Sackboys are warm, fuzzy, and cuddly, with huge appeal to atypical gamers. Then again, Sony is apparently aiming to cater to that more casual market with Move, and Sackboys likely appeal to that demographic.

Sony Purchases LittleBigPlanet Developer Media Molecule

Sony announced yesterday, via their Sony Playstation Blog, that they have acquired Media Molecule, the development studio behind the co-op friendly and creative LittleBigPlanet, lock, stock, and sackboys/girls. Given Sony's previous goodwill in providing LittleBigPlanet with the IP from other games they've published or released on their system, this kind of merger certainly seemed to be one of those "long-time coming" deals. Hopefully, it will prove to be more co-operative than others.

The Sackie Award winners have been acknowledged for things like "best use of audio in a level," "Best innovative creation," "Best use of story in a level," and other such amazing creations.

Pirates of the Carribean, Water Levels Headed To LittleBIGPlanet

A couple of interesting pieces of DLC are headed to cute, casual, and co-op friendly LittleBIGPlanet. The first is the Pirates of the Caribbean costume pack. The pack has six costumes for $5.99, including an adorable "Sack Sparrow" and squid-faced Davey Jones. If you're short on treasure, the six costumes will be available separately for $1.99 each.
