You can watch the recap below, the bottom line is the game is much closer to a polished product than it was, but there's still some weird quirky things we hit along the way. The best thing about the new content missions are they are fully playable in co-op, something the original story was not.

Marvel's Avengers Stream Recap and Impressions

Mike kicks things the stream off with a brutal, but fair, criticism of the state of the game right now. The single-player campaign is good and (mostly) works as intended, but the co-op mode (Avengers Initiative) is broken to the point of being nearly unplayable. That's not a criticism of the gameplay or mechanics, it is an accurate description of the game's performance on the PC (we're unable to comment on PS4 or Xbox performance, though there are problems on those platforms, too). Here is a short list of the issues we've experienced in our playtime thus far:

Unveiled via the stream are some of Thor's gameplay, more story details, co-op footage, and main villains AIM and M.O.D.O.K. The crux of the story is surrounding a super fan who believe the Avengers were set up and is out to prove the world wrong.

Crystal Dynamics’ Avengers Looks To Change The Focus

Aside from Khan, Amostakes time to speak about other heroes in the game and to explain how the team is implementing feedback and incorporating it into their development process. He says: “Certainly, all we’ve done with our characters is constantly iterate and playtest. I mean, we play every day [...]as the fans of the franchise , but also the game makers. We have this privilege and this responsibility to play and say, ‘Does this feel Hulk enough? Does this feel Blackwidow enough?’ and, ‘What can we do to just amplify that a little to make them feel more super here or there?’”

If You Missed It: Marvel's Avengers Delayed to September

This news isn't entirely unexpected, as initial previews of the game at last year's E3 were rather mixed. Even setting aside the overall look of some of the characters, many impressions of the initial gameplay (which, granted, was just a tutorial) weren't great either. Since that event, the most information we've gotten about the game is that it'll be divided into single-player "Hero Missions," which comprise the entirety of the story campaign and also unlock new characters to play, and the cooperative "War Zone Missions." Beyond that, we know there's a loot chase and some kind of skill tree, but Crystal Dynamics and Square Enix have largely been radio silent until this news, which felt like an inevitability given the aforementioned "radio silence." We here always are excited to play new co-op titles, especially ones that feature loot, so we're hoping that the extra time will help the game land with a dramatic flourish rather than a wet thud.

Ms. Marvel Joins the Cast of Marvel's Avengers

There's still a lot of unknowns swirling about this game, but this character reveal trailer gives us a little hope that maybe this thing won't be D.O.A. Hopefully Crystal Dynamics and Square-Enix will have even more to reveal/discuss over the next few months.

Marvel's Avengers Has A Nice, Healthy Chunk Of Gameplay Footage Out

Marvel's Avengers, the cooperative action game teased in 2017 and revealed earlier this year, has a nineteen-minute chunk of footage from its tutorial level available for your viewing pleasure. Luckily, the action swaps from one superpowered crime fighter to another, so you don't have to watch ol' Cap blitz dudes in the face with his shield the entire time (that said, I can think of worse ways to spend nineteen minutes). If you think you're ready for it, put on a pot of coffee and dig into the A-Day footage.

[E3 2019] - Marvel's Avengers Will Have 4 Player Online Co-Op

The biggest information to come out of that whole conference was the story setup, as shown in the video below. The Avengers are in San Francisco to christen their new headquarters, then some things go bad and then go even worse. The entire incident becomes known as "A-Day" and the Avengers disband as a result. Five years later, Super Heroes are outlawed, the world is in peril, so guess what? Yep! The band is getting back together again! Woo!
