Details of this patch were shared with GameSpot, along with a statement that Activision is "focused on identifying and fixing the issues that have been occurring." Additionally, the publisher plans on releasing all of the DLC for Marvel Ultimate Alliance, which is currently missing across all versions, for free in a future update. One requested improvement that that, or any other, update will not include is making the graphics any better beyond what tweaks have already been made.

Marvel Ultimate Alliance Remasters Experience Some HitchesJason Love

Part of the issue here appears to be properly communicating what the remasters would entail. When Marvel/Activision officially announced the remasters this past weekend, it seems like folks expected remasters along the lines of something like Borderlands: The Handsome Collection; in other words, the graphics would get a good HD polish, controls would be tweaked to respond better, trophy/achievement support would be included, and all of the various pieces of DLC that were released across all platforms would be packaged with them. For the PlayStation 4, all of that has (more or less) held true. The same cannot be said for the PC and Xbox One versions.

Back in the mid-2000s when we were all yearning for a new action-RPG, Activision and Raven Software put one out that was far more than I think anyone expected. Not only did it feature a thoroughly comics inspired story and an impressive roster of playable heroes, the game supported four player co-op for both local and online play, a feature that wasn't all that common at that time. Even though the sequel, Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2, was developed by a different studio, it was a good follow-up set within the popular Civil War storyline.

Going through stacks of games for something old to play with someone new can deliver up some awesome experiences. But, in order to mix things up in the replay department I tend to suggest a cranked-up difficulty, which was the case recently with Marvel: Ultimate Alliance. With Marvel: UA, the hard difficulty mode has to be unlocked by completing the game, and is probably not explored by many people.

For me, the best co-op games are the ones that make me feel like a total geek while playing them. Left 4 Dead did this for me, since I was constantly remarking how it was like 28 Days Later, in addition to other obscure zombie movie references. The only way the co-op game can be any more fun is if I am surrounded by other people basking in geekery. Fortunately I got the chance this week, as I played a game that is essentially a perfect storm for geeks: Marvel Ultimate Alliance.
