Four Player Co-Op Update for Watch Dogs 2 Now Available

The news arrived late last week that the update would be dropping on Tuesday this week. While the number of players has increased from two to four, the activities you can do with your friends are still the same, i.e., Free Roam or Co-Op Operations. Producer Kris Young elaborated in the Ubisoft blog post:

In a blog post last week, Ubisoft laid out its "content roadmap" for Watch Dogs 2 over the next few months. The biggest change was them pulling the new PvP mode, Showdown, out of the paid "No Compromise" DLC and making it free/available to everyone. As a result, the "No Compromise" DLC will now include some new outfits that grant you special in-game abilities as a way to make that paid DLC more "premium," I guess. The one bit of co-op news amidst all that is the plan to increase the number of players supported in the free roam/co-op missions to four, though this won't occur until sometime in June.

This is some of the first footage we've seen that shows what Watch Dogs 2's co-op experience is like. In the video, Nick joins up with another player to infiltrate a facility and download some data (and pose for a picture). They flee from the scene of the crime and take on a new mission to download some data from a rival NPC hacker. The hacker tries to get away, but Nick uses the stun gun to knock him out (it's easier to download from a target when they're not moving). Finally, Nick and his co-op buddy infiltrate another facility run by a biker gang to... yeah, download some more data...

PC Specs for Watch Dogs 2 Revealed, Release Date Pushed Back

The dev team behind Watch Dogs 2 is taking that extra time to make a few enhancements to the PC version. Specifically:

There aren't too many details around the actual co-op aspects yet, though GameSpot had a chance to check out the game a week ago and got a little more info. Specifically, four player co-op will be supported throughout the entire campaign. What's more, you will encounter players just wandering around San Francisco and can invite them into your game, similar to The Division. The little mention of the game's co-op from yesterday's footage starts around the 2:25 mark in the video below.
