NASA Develops Co-Op Game

Sure NASA can make rocket ships and space craft that travels to the far reaches of our galaxy or take close up pictures of the sun - but who cares about the expansions and exploration for the human race when they can MAKE GAMES.  What's even better, their first foray into the videogame sector is a six player co-op game called Moonbase Alpha.

The game involves a team of astronauts working together to create a Lunar base.  You'll need to work with up to six players via LAN or Internet to complete tasks to bring the base online.  The game utilizes voice chat for communication to help work through these tasks.

Team coordination along with the proper use and allocation of your available resources (player controlled robots, rovers, repair tools, etc.) are key to your overall success.

The game is built in assistance with the team that did America's Army, and graphically, looks up to par with many of today's popular PC games.  The best part about Moonbase Alpha is the game is completely free and available on Steam.  If you accidently launch your entire family into space while playing the game...don't say we didn't warn you.

Thanks Peter for the tip!
