The year has been a great one for cooperative games, filled with big names and surprise indie hits. Yet in the run-up to the festive season, there are plenty of other titles to keep you going until the new year's releases. Read on as we discuss some of the most anticipated titles of late 2024.
Blessed Curse
Blessed Curse is an upcoming title by developers Tricky Whispers. It is a psychological horror game, guaranteed to make you and three other players jump. You play the part of a group of paranormal hunters. With a tip-off about an entity in Japan, you don your ghost-hunting equipment to figure out what lurks there.
An indie title, the game is expected in October. However, the full release date has yet to be named. Social media posts have also been sparse, with just a few intriguing images. This has sent message boards alight, with a lack of publicity only adding to the mystery.
Cooperative Casino Titles
There are not many truly cooperative casino games. Most of them involve a player trying to win money, so inevitably they soon bring players head to head. However, there are many different ways the casino industry has tried to facilitate a more social atmosphere in casinos, particularly online ones.
One way they have done this is through live casinos. These use streaming technology to connect players to a real dealer. As they spin roulette wheels and deal cards, players can make wagering decisions based on the live dealer's actions. They're even able to chat, so it can provide some great rapport. This has helped the industry move into new areas, such as the casino sites Canada which are springing up. It has also brought a lot of new players to the industry across the world.
Other ways they have done this is with new crash-style games. These involve betting on the trajectory of an aircraft, determined by a random number generator. Stay in and the wager increases, yet if it crashes players lose everything. As everyone bets on the same plane, they are entered into a lobby where chatting is possible. Either of these can be great fun if you and a friend log onto the same lobby or card game.
Royal Quest Online

There have been a whole host of Japanese free-to-play MMPORG titles over the last few years. In some ways, it has been hard to distinguish one from the next. However, Royal Quest online comes with an impressive pedigree. It is the follow-on from Royal Quest, a game released in 2015 by Katauri Interactive.
In this title, you can choose from four classes and eight subclasses. There are PvP and PvP modes, so you can fight together or pit your skills against one another. When working as a team you can work together, explore the hundreds of worlds on offer and trade items to level up your character.
All of these games should give you a few options until the festive barrage of new titles. Don't be afraid to go back and visit older games either. You may have overlooked some of the year's biggest sleeper hits.
