The ‘multiplayer experience’ has always been popular, but over the last few years, it seems to have reached another level. 

With some of the biggest trending games in the iGaming industry including Roulette Live, Live Blackjack, and Multiplayer Poker – multiplayer options where multiple players can join the same virtual table – and games like Genshin Impact and Honkai Star Rail drawing some of the largest audiences in 2024, it’s clear that there is a definitive move by both iGaming and traditional game developers to capitalise.

Throughout the mobile gaming industry, more money than ever is being invested in multiplayer titles, with the increasing demand for more social and competitive experiences being the main reasons behind the growth. But while games like Genshin Impact might be the most popular in 2024, that doesn’t necessarily mean it’s the best.

Of course, we’ve known for a while that a co-op experience is the best way to experience a game, and that puts us in a good position to know a good co-op game when we see it and recognise its unique qualities. With this in mind, we wanted to walk through the best mobile multiplayer games in 2024 and why you should take a look at them.

Among Us

It might sound obvious, but Among Us continues to be one of the best social games out there. With easy-to-learn mechanics, huge replayability, and a big emphasis on social interaction – Among Us thrives on communication and deception, and you’ll need both if you want to win – it’s a funny, tense, and chaotic game that is going to hold up for many years to come. It’s also worth noting that it has excellent cross-platform play options, with players on a variety of platforms – including PC and mobile – able to play together. 

Call of Duty: Mobile

This might not be one that many expected to see on this list, but we thought it worth shouting out the CoD series and the work that is going on to make it more mobile friendly. While previous efforts have been lacklustre at best, the most recent CoD: Mobile opts for a more classic experience, with multiple multiplayer modes including ‘Team Deathmatch’, ‘Domination’, and ‘Battle Royale’ – which has a massive map that supports up to 100 players. 

In many ways, it is indicative of the current state of the gaming industry – developers have realised that, if they don’t want to be left behind, the mobile gaming experience will have to be just as good, if not better than the console experience. And when it comes to multiplayer options, CoD: Mobile certainly excels in that.

Sky: Children of the Light

While it came out back in 2019, Sky: Children of Light has been taking massive strides in recent years, to the point where it’s one of the best games in 2024 – that you’ve probably never heard of! This is a more unique multiplayer mobile game that focuses on exploration and collaboration rather than combat or competition. Players have to work together to explore ethereal landscapes, solve puzzles, and reach brand new areas that are ripe for even more exploration.

Instead of a chat room – or any form of verbal communication – the game fosters a sense of community through non-verbal gestures, with players able to light candles to form bonds and assist others on their journey. For those who like seasonal events, new areas and events are also added regularly, keeping things fresh without being too overwhelming. This makes it one of the most unique games on the market in 2024 and, in our opinion, certainly one to play if you’re looking for something a little more refreshing and gentle!
