2023 is looking to be an exciting year for DC games. As one of the oldest comic book creators, DC has been scrawling panels since they released their first official comic in 1937, closely followed by Marvel as their largest competitor. With a range of highly anticipated upcoming game releases including Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League (Kevin Conroy’s last sprint as the voice of Batman), Wonder Woman, and DC Heroes and Villains, there’s a game in the works for fans of all tastes. For those who can’t wait to dive back into the world of Batman and other DC characters, let’s take a look at some of the most iconic existing DC games.

Batman: Arkham Asylum

Since the majority of DC licensed games focus on everyone’s favorite deep-voiced vigilante, no DC game list would be complete without the iconic Batman: Arkham series. Arkham Asylum has entertained Batman and DC fans since its release in 2009, Asylum has captivated audiences with its insight into Gotham’s criminally insane residents. The Arkham series was developed by Rocksteady Studios, the same company developing Kill the Justice League, so they’re definitely well-versed in Gotham design. With a detail-packed story, intuitive combat mechanics, and a focus on Batman’s crime scene sleuthing, this is one you really don’t want to miss, and it has excellent replay value. What more could you ask for?

Gotham Knights

Entirely separate from the Arkham Series, the long-awaited ‘Bat-Fam’ game was released in October 2022 and is set in a world devoid of Batman. In his absence, the Gotham Knights – Robin, Batgirl, Red Hood, and Night Wing – must protect the city in his stead. With the mysterious Court of Owls presenting an ever-looming threat, players can explore this open-world action RPG with up to four friends in co-op mode. Enter a different Gotham with a missing hero to delve into these characters' backstories and their relationship to The Bat.

Wonder Woman by Playtech

The upcoming release of the Wonder Woman game is set to bring fresh attention to the famous warrior, but there has already been a trailblazer in this area as Playtech released a slot title in 2019. Featuring in second place in a list of 15 of the best superhero slot machines, it's clear to see that this title is highly rated, with features such as the randomly activated progressive jackpots receiving acclaim. The fast-paced slot title by Playtech focuses on Wonder Woman and her rival, The Cheetah, who are locked in a fierce, never-ending stand-off.

Monolith Productions will be hoping to attract fans of this slot title to their single-player, open-world action game and their success with the Lord of the Rings series of games suggests fans could be in for a treat.

Batman: The Telltale Series

For a classic graphic point-and-click, you can’t beat Telltale games. A quintessentially story-led mystery thriller with a fresh take on several familiar faces, this game also focuses on the detective side of Batman's crime-stopping more than any other game with the exception of Arkham Asylum. Telltale really immerses you in the inner world of your favorite characters, and Bruce Wayne is no different. Enter the gritty world through five episodes and make choices that will affect the outcome of the Dark Knight's investigations.
