It's probably worth stating before things kick off in the video that neither Mike nor myself have put a lot of time in the game to get more cards beyond whatever we got from the Early Access. We both tossed together a couple quick decks and hopped in to just take a look. It is clear that the Co-Op Challenges in the game, even on "Normal" difficulty, are not exactly geared towards that level of play. That's not to say I don't think you can't beat the challenge with just the basic stuff you get the first time you hop in, but the bosses you face do require some very specific strategies to be employed.

Fable Fortune Leaves Early Access TodayJason Love

Aside from the cards/characters from the Fable-verse, what sets Fable Fortune apart from the other digital CCGs out there is the quest and "good vs evil" mechanic. At the start of every match, you choose a quest, such as use your hero ability four times. Competing that quest grants you a special card as well as presenting you with a choice: do you choose the good or evil path? Choosing a path not only changes your hero ability, but it also affects the cards you play. Some cards have a "Morality" mechanic and will "Transform" into cards with different abilities depending on if you're good or evil. It's a neat idea and an interesting implementation of Fable's morality system.

Like most CCGs, Fable Fortune provides players with the opportunity to earn packs of cards through playing the game and then assembling those cards into a deck. The title features six heroes - Marshall the Knight, Miracle the Alchemist, Crimson the Shapeshifter, Barter the Merchant, Temple the Gravedigger, and Sand the Prophet - that each has his/her unique ability to use in combat. The hero also determines what types of cards you can use in your deck as there are "Alchemist" or "Merchant" specific cards in the game, along with "Neutral" cards that can be used by any hero. You can go head-to-head against another person, or team up with someone to take on a boss in the co-op mode. Check out the video below for a little more in-depth description of the gameplay.

The new date for the title to hit Early Access on both Xbox One and PC is now July 25. There's currently a closed beta underway on the PC, though access is restricted. In the same blog post, the devs said they'd have codes to giveaway for the beta and they would be doing so via their Twitter an FaceBook feeds, but there hasn't been any activity on those since the post on the 7th. Hopefully all is well over there and that hiccup hasn't turned into anything more serious.

Like many digital card games, Fable Fortune will allow players to build decks comprised of iconic creatures and characters from the world of Fable, and then battle against one another to see who's mana curve reigns supreme. There are six different Hero characters from which players can choose and you can even choose your alignment (good or evil) to affect the way the cards in your deck play out. You can compete against other players in PvP, or team up with another player online to take on a boss in the Co-Op Mode. Though the Early Access version is about a month away, there's a guide available on the game's website that goes through all the steps of how to play the game.
