Everyone loves a good rumor, particularly considering that sometimes they end up actually being true. This rumor is considering a very popular game here at Co-Optimus. According to GameXtract, Left 4 Dead will have specs that open up the game to a wide variety of PCs. The supposed minimum specs are:
Minimum System Requirements (Rumored)
OS: Windows 2000/XP/Vista
Processor: Pentium 4 @ 1.7 GHz
Memory: 512 MB
Video Memory: 64 MB
Sound Card: DirectX Compatible
DirectX: 9.0c
Keyboard & Mouse
DVD Rom Drive
The specs aren't that bad at all, and my three-year-old laptop could handle the game OK, and that's saying something. Specs like these would be also be good news in that the more people who are capable of running a co-op game, the better. But reminder, this is just a rumor. However, Doug Lombardi has recently said that Left 4 Dead should have similar specs to The Orange Box. So, things are at least looking up in regards to having that old PC run L4D.
