Left 4 Dead Preorders Surpass Orange Box, $10M Advertising Campaign Underway

Need proof that co-op gaming is on the rise? How about the fact that pre-orders for Left 4 Dead, the 4 player co-op shooter from Valve Software, is selling about 60% higher in preorders than the insanely popular Orange Box did. Impressions for the game have been nothing short of outstanding, ours included, so it's no surprise the pre-sale hype is strong with this one.
But game sales aren't the only thing rising from the grave with Left 4 Dead, the advertising budget is set for a brain replacement surgery cost of $10 million dollars. Not only has Valve secured "high impact premium spots" with commercials that will mix horror and comedy; they've also set their sites on several American cities. New York, Chicago, Boston, Seattle, Los Angeles, Minneapolis, Dallas and San Francisco can all expect to see the pun filled icon of the game everywhere they look.
With $10 Million dollars, I would have gone with real reanimated dead for some advertising that really packs a punch...and eats your brains to boot!

Weird...and they even switched them for the box art and stuff.
Left hand or no, this game and its ad campaign will hopefully EXPLOAD the market for co-op gaming. I don't want to MMO to play games with my kids.

They probably had already had all the promotional stuff (banners, posters, etc) printed after deciding to change the box art. They just fixed the box art a couple of weeks ago.
