Re: [XBox 360] - Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising
Four player co-op, right?
If only it had more it could be the next GRAW2...didn't I make a thread for that. Either way, this sounds like a great co-op opportunity.

Kinda upset it doesn't have some kind of other multi player mode. It does look really good though, I'm still wondering if I will get it.

Quite a pity that it doesn't support any kind of local co-op... I was looking forward to this. (My main co-op buddy doesn't have Live)

 Re: Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising
Whomever wrote that copy gets an F-. co-optimus wrote: Sequel to Operation Flashpoint: Cold War Crisis. This is incorrect. Fans of Bohemia know the difference, but there are going to be a lot of gamers who played OFP: Elite on the Xbox who will be fooled by Dragon Rising. The sequel to Operation Flashpoint is Arma 2, previously known as "Game 2" (which was initially billed as a more ambitious project than the upgrade to ArmA Bohemia released). The original Operation Flashpoint was developed by Bohemia but published by Codemasters. Unfortunately, Codemasters retained the rights to the name when Bohemia dropped them as a publisher. After they parted ways, each started working on their own game. Armed Assault, considered "OFP 1.5" and later renamed to ArmA, was released on the PC in early 2007. ArmA 2, the true sequel to OFP, was released early this year in June. Nobody knows how closely Dragon Rising will resemble Flashpoint, but the community is dubious. DR does not use Bohemia's exceptional Real Virtuality engine...Codemasters used the EGO engine from its racing games. Besides co-op, there are two multiplayer modes that will ship with Dragon Rising: annihilation (team deathmatch) and infiltration (10 marines infiltrate a PLA base with 22 soldiers in order to destroy an objective). Supposedly there will be more modes added at a later date. However, there's a max of eight players on the consoles (32 on PC). If that doesn't sound ridiculous enough, check this out: In co-op mode, human-controlled characters must stay within 275m of each other! This is absurd for a tactical shooter, and it's going to piss off a lot of people who presume they're getting an "Operation Flashpoint" style game. It makes all the features that the series is known for (huge sprawling battles, multiple squad assaults, AI recon, vehicle insertions & resupply units, etc.) impossible. The biggest disappointment is the lack of a mission editor on the 360; this made Operation Flashpoint Elite the best game of its kind on Xbox. My advice is to boycott Dragon Rising unless you're hard-up for another arcadey console FPS (or at least wait until it plummets to $20 considering all the blockbuster titles being released this fall). If you have a PC that can play it, definitely buy ArmA 2.

But even if I did...I wouldn't preorder this since it's been so...SO long since I played the demo of the first OP that I would want to try it out. The fact that it has a tether is not helping since I would want to divide teams up. But I'll just have to wait and see how this game is. Unless Arma II comes to the 360 ever..this is the only game in that vein I'm looking at.

Re: [XBox 360] - Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising
I hope ArmA 2 gets an Xbox release...games like this really need exposure. Too many kids think tactical shooters begin and end with Tom Clancy (and some of them go so far as to include Call of Duty). I've seen in a video in which Bohemia execs were discussing a port at a German developer conference, but doubt it will happen since it's a niche title that doesn't fit with the 360's demographic.
Still, it's the only game I'd buy on more than one platform.

I am all over this game upon the release. My most anticipated game this year next to Shadow Complex.

man, it gets worse and worse. 4x4km maps? that's pretty small... no free look in the vehicles? yikes! I think I'll wait... Was hoping for a GRAW2 replacement but looks like that's not happening!

Re: [XBox 360] - Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising
I think this game could have benefitted from split-screen co-op. My dad and I love to play military style shooters, but there just aren't that many out there that offer local co-op.

Re: [XBox 360] - Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising
I just got this game today and I love it! The realism is insane, at one point after getting hit for my third time in one mission, my character actually began to cry. If anyone is looking for a squad member for co-op, hit me up.

Re: [XBox 360] - Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising
I've been playing this, co-op, since release and I love it. We have replayed some of the missions 8 or more times and they're still fun because it's Co-op how can that not be fun? Since a single mission takes an hour or so at times, you certainly get your replay value out of this title. We used to play a lot of GRAW2 together, and RB6V2 Terrorist Hunts - now we play this more. Any old farts in the UK, please hit me up with a FR for some OFPDR co-op play - I don't play with teenagers, they might make me look bad I'm in the BlueBloods (UK) and we have 20+ guys and gals playing this (all over 30yo), but more friends never hurts.

Re: [XBox 360] - Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising
I dont usually like these kind of games. The idea of fighting invisible/hidden enemies and where one bullet can kill, really puts me off. But a friend bought 4 copies on the release day and insisted that I'd join for some 4 player co-op action.
We beat the game yesterday, and while it was fun at times, the game just feels way too short. Only 11 missions with usually 1-3 main objectives and 1-3 optional. The island is huge, but with so few missions, I bet we didnt get to see much of it.
New DLC is pretty much already confirmed , but its unknown what it will be. In my opinion the game needs more missions/campaigns, and not just weapons or multiplayer modes. Time will tell...

Re: [XBox 360] - Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising
This game wasnt what I expected. I dislike the fact that you have to give orders to other team members. And the enemies are basically invisible. I tried the first mission and disliked it extremely. I tried to move onto mission 2. And hmmm doesnt seem it will get any better.
Sorry for those that might have sent me an invite for FR. But I just recieved this yesterday and will be returning it tomorrow. Will be playing CoD:W@W til Oct. 27th. FM3 comes out.

Re: [XBox 360] - Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising
It's getting pretty mediocre reviews for bad AI, short gameplay and things like that.
Too bad.
