So quiet here...demo is out on Steam for those of us who pre-ordered

Some thumbnails of some of the fun I had this morning in a very brief play. The way the zombies see you...they turn their head towards you and then run at you...is very creepy and very well done. Especially well done is the animation of them sprawling back due to their body receiving a well placed shot from my shotgun

Played the demo for a bit last night. Very well done, IMO. Spooky and fun at the same time. Between the music, the zombies and the way play changes each time you play, I think this one will be around for awhile. If maps get made, and mods too... this has some longevity possibility (for me at least). I did like the physics of the bodies under fire... even machine gun fire in non-lethal (or slowly lethal) body areas... slowed them down and twisted them around a few times. I saw more than one zombie get spun around 2-3 times before falling down. And the flying body parts... well, that's just too cool. And the auto shotgun... well, that's worth carrying just for the bodies flying this way and that! All I can say is with the hordes of zombies rushing you... thank goodness they setup the secondary weapons (pistols) as unlimited ammo!

Controls are very similar to other FPS games. Haven't had the chance to really see if there is anything new in the controls, but I'll have more time starting tomorrow morning to really jump in.

very glad I made the pre-order. Think I'll even get this on xbox360 as well (xbox live! = swissyjim) for some non-PC friends and family (I know some gifts people will be getting easly! )

The demo is a heck-ton of fun and has me drooling for the full version. Probably the highlights so far are when the zombies rush en masse - zerg style.

Only another week or so until the full release - that will be even tastier.

Ii should help get you more teammates for playing Left 4 Dead.

I know many like me don't come here as often or at all looking for people to play with as we have the steam group set up, so we just check there. We are a fun group and always looking for more people to play with, we also do a lot of TF2, which I suppose is not really Co-op, so I thought I would invite people to join us for Left 4 Dead.

While obviously just not for L4D, that and TF2 seem to be my games of choice right now.

Nothing like holding a M16 at eye level and spraying the on-rushing horde.

I haven't played enough of this demo yet, but I know I like it. There are just so many good games out right now, that I'm letting the demo rest for a while. This way, when I play the full version and encounter this level, I will not too sick of it (if that's possible).

Is anyone thinking of being around when L4D launches at some ungodly hour of the morning? I'm not 100% sold myself - but damn if it isn't tempting!

I'll be getting L4D as soon as it's available locally... Tuesday afternoon about 2pm Alaska time they say. Have both the PC and 360 version coming...

I'm already pre-loaded via Steam. Just need to see if I can somehow get around waiting until 12 midnight Pacific... Maybe I should move to Australia!

Even if I can't move to Australia, it's likely I'll be up late to play a few hours before work anyhow. Can hardly wait.

Won't be up until midnight tonight, but will definitely be on tomorrow night and ready for some zombie-killing action.

For those of you not playing... why not?

L4D doesnt like my video card. Looks like it's only the 360 version for me. Shame since it'll have a longer life on the PC.

I almost did, I was up till 11:45 editing our podcast. But at that point, I was just too tired.

TOnight though...oh yes...tonight will be long hours of Left 4 Dead.

I'd like to thank VictimBlue, Hobo Jackson and BiHazzard for some of the most intense co-op I've seen in a long time! I realize I got on a bit later than planned, but holy cow. I'm going to be one hurting unit at work today - 2.5 hours of sleep isn't really a "good" night sleep - but damn did I have a good night!

I fully expect to sleep-deprived enough over the next few days to be mistaken as a zombie.

So why would someone not play this?

The only possible reason I can surmise is that they are a wimp. This game is excessive in so many ways, but the amount of tactics is surprising! That final encounter for No Mercy on top of the hospital is brutal - that was not something I was expecting at all.

PS. The difficulty for the release version seems to be a bit higher than the demo version - this game keeps getting better and better!
