Left 4 Dead 360 Interface
Fight together...or die alone. A new and highly virulent strain of the rabies virus emerges and spreads through the human population with frightening speed. The pandemic's victims become grotesquely disfigured, wildly violent psychopaths, attacking the uninfected on sight. One of the "lucky" few apparently immune to the sickness, you, unfortunately, are also trapped in a city crawling with thousands of the bloodthirsty Infacted. Together with a handful of fellow Survivors, you must fight your way to safety or die alone. A co-operative multiplayer action game from the makers of "Counter-Strike," Left 4 Dead is built atop the most advanced version of the Source Engine and introduces version 2 of Turtle Rock's artificial intelligence (A.I.) technology.

Not only can you game with 3 other people online but you are able to bring a guest with you to play online, that to me is a must have feature for any co-op game.
The gameplay is awesome, never expect the same run the next time you play a level, where there were guns before there may not be the next time etc. The atmosphere Left 4 Dead creates is something no other game has done to date, and that is the feeling you are actually in a horror movie just trying to survive.
If your looking for a solid co-op game this year be sure to pick this one up.
This is a game that's all about mastery of the levels and replayability. The first time through any level is really just your introduction. The weapon selection and levels are pared down from other coop shooters, which works fine. Each campaign has been carefully crafted to ensure there is no fluff, nothing thrown in just to add some time.
So far, all I've played is local, split-screen. I'm sure going online with 4 players adds an entire other dimension. But just sitting on the couch with another person, screaming as the horde barrels down on us and laughing when we escape certain death has been more fun than virtually every other coop game this year.
The major feature of Left 4 Dead is the AI. The AI is very smart, they don't accidentally shoot you, they heal you, and they are great shots. This is a great game.
However, if you are a co-op gamer, and I hazard to guess many on this site are, you'll be hard pressed to find a more fun 4-way co-operative experience vs. the computer than this. This game just doesn't challenge your teamwork skill, it also serves up a barrel of fun by making you and your party feel as if you are in a cheesy zombie movie with barely any hope of survival. But it's not all glum. This game makes use of the word party to it's more common definition to mean a gathering of people for a good time. You will have a great time running and gunning with your friends. Hearing your friends screaming for help as zombies try to drag them off is great entertainment, and they'll get their fair share from you. Count on it.
Some people have complained about how shallow this game is, and it's true, but you must understand the context. This game isn't meant to be a great single player experience like Half-Life. If you want that there are loads of games crowding the market. Left 4 Dead simply focuses on the replayability of multiple campaigns (that never play the same way twice!) each of which are meant to represent a zombie flick and take about that long to play.
This game is available on XBox 360 and PC. FPS fans needn't worry about playing on the 360 as the analog stick controls have been nailed perfectly. It's not hard at all to play without the mouse and keyboard. I myself picked the 360 version because I like having LIVE and with it the knowledge that everyone has a mic (something fundamentally needed for online play with this game).
This game requires you to have friends and a love for co-op. If you don't, you probably will be one of the haters bashing it for how shallow the game is, but if you do, you are in for something special!
P.S. If you are a fun, social co-op player who needs a 4th survivor for your party, hit me up on Live!
